I have an APEX-3076. I turn it on and the screen blinks quickly and then darkens. I can hear sound but no picture, I turn off set, disconnect power, reconnect cord turn on & cycle through "INPUTS" as directed by owner manual. This use to solve the problem. But it does no good now. I think the power/supply converter has gone bad. I think I can replace it if I can find one.

I have the same problem with this tv and what helped was not to have any other electrical goods pluged into the same plug socket, it didnt cure the problem but t can work for two weeks to a month before the problem appears again, then i unplug it and leave for about five to ten minuits and plug it in again. Although you could try a surge protector this works, ithink that itsw power problem and this tv likes an unintrupted

Unfortunately, manufacturer parts and service are no longer available for this television. An eBay search turns up parts for this television, but those parts are quite expensive. If you know what part is bad, you could get it fixed for $100 or more.

I know people aren't made of money, but today's (Feb 2009) 26" LCD televisions can be bought for $300. You can possibly offset some of the cost by selling the parts - people seem to need them.

Spending money to fix this television is risky. A new television will have a warranty (plus an extended warranty with the right credit card), be of better quality and have manufacturer support. Also, the manufacturer might still support your television a few years down the road.

Knock on wood, my AV2776 has had no issues since I bought it in 2004. I went online to get a users manual and found a lot of disgruntled people because these sets cannot be repaired. At the first sign of problems, I'm going to replace it.

Sound problem

It is really unusual that you retained the picture part after the lightning strike, but what is wrong now is in the audio portion of your tv (obvious). However, if you have not taken the back cover off already it could be as simple as a blown fuse in the low voltage power supply or just blown audio amplifiers due to the sudden voltage and current surge caused by the lightning. The fact that you can get your audio through your surround system kinda narrows it down to the audio amplifier section. Just take the back off and look because those size tvs do not have alot of boards. All in all see if the problem is visually obvious like a fuse, because with out taking actual voltage measurements it could be a couple of boards in there causing the problem. Good luck and let me know. God bless you. Robert

No picture / No Sound / No nothing

that sounds like the Hi voltage transformer went bad.. If your a tech simply disconnect the horizontal output transistor and see if thats shorted. If it is then it is for sure the HV transformer. If its not shorted look in the main power supply. Its cost is around 40 bucks or so and the transistor is about 15 to 20 bucks. This entire repair should cost ya around 150 to 175. So if you decide this tv is the one you like then have it fixed. Good Luck
