If it has service ports on each side of the motor you need to add Zoomspout oil to the cotton wells.outside fan runs slow on - 0942d92.jpg Check the capacitor if you have a seperate cap for the fan motor. Look for swelling that is a sure sign of cap failure.c51cc2e.jpgKill power at the outside unit before checking anything. 2550ebd.gif

My inside units fan won't turn off but my outside heatpump unit is cycling.

this could be a few things. first and simplest is the fan switch on. next with the system switch off check for 24 vac from g to common (usally labeled c) if you have 24vac at these termainls with the fan in auto and the system off you have a bad stat or a shorted wire. the other thing it could be is a heat relay sticking closed. does the fan slow down when the outside unit shuts off is the air comming out of the vent seem alittle warm. either or both of these would indacate a stuck heat relay (more commnly called a sequencer)

My outside a/c condensing unit's fan runs, but inside vent air is not cold. compresser may not be running. inside vent air was cold last week. Janitrol ckj361ab is model # of outside unit.

Start the unit and go outside to see if the insulated pipe is sweating or cold, hot air should be discharging from top of outside unit. Since the breaker is not tripping, my best guess is the compressor is not operating. You might have to replace the capacitor.

If you can hear the compressor operating, then most
likely needs refrigerant

Where is the capacitor located on a coleman heatpump

If you're talking about the outside fan, look where the wire goes into the outside unit. The capacitor will be somewhere near the circuit board and will be round or oval and metal or plastic. If you're talking about the inside unit it will be with the electrical control in the air handler. Write down where the wires go. The terminals on the capacitor will be marked and for the outside unit you will either have 1 that runs both the fan and compressor or a seperate one for each. If you have 1 that runs both the wires must be reconnected to the right terminals. They will be marked COM, FAN, HERM(stands for compressor). Take the old one with you to get a new one. Let me know what you find.

I don't think the fan on it' own crates the problem. Could you find out what should be and what actually is the flow through it. yes go into electric heat for awhile. sometimes a heatpump will run constantlly when temps outside are not high enough./em heat mode untill temps rise or unit recovers.your unit should of gone into hot-gas defrost this maybe what your hearing. but remember electric heat is expensive to operate go back to your heatpump mode after system has a chance to recover.

Our janitrol heat pump is freezing. there is considerable buildup of ice inside the pump itself on the coil. the fan still spins and still heats the interior of the home

Switch the thermostat from heat to Aux. or emergency heat till the outside unit thaws out. This will shorten the life of the outside unit considerable running it all iced up.

If your Heatpump's fan isn't running but your compressor is, your fan motor is out. If nothings happening at all ensure your getting power to heatpump (ex: breaker tripped, fuses blown on outside power switch, or fuses blown in breaker box?)
