Question about Westwind Classic Hugger Polished Brass 52" Ceiling Fan

1 Answer

My ceiling fan has five wires. Two black, one brown, one gray, and one green. I didn't see the brown one at first, because it's right behind one of the black ones (the wires are on two levels)... The replacement switch has only connections for four wires. Is there a way to hook this switch up safely, like with two wires into the same hole???

I needed to replace the pull switch, but in doing so the capacitor was disconnected and I do not know where the wires go. It's a five wire, 2 gray,1 green, 1 red, one brown. It's marked 10mfd/5mfd/250vac....

1 - gray
2 - brown
3 - green
L - should be black
The other gray should be connected by wire nut to the other grey to reversing switch.

Also, you should have two wires, white & black w/ white stripe, at bottom of fan to hook up light if needed.

Hello. I really hope the 2nd grey is simply a faded purple or green. The most common configurations would be: L - Black, 1 - Grey, 2 - Brown, 3 - Purple or green.
