Question about HP Pavilion dv6929nr 15.4" Widescreen Entertainment Laptop PC Notebook

2 Answers

My HP Pavilion DV6929WM is having a few problems.. For some reason the screen will randomly go to 800 x 640 resolution, saying that there is another display. There is no other display besides the laptop 15.4" screen, so i do not understand why it is saying another screen is detected. It happens randomly when playing games, browsing the internet etc.. and i have to manually switch it back to display only on screen 1. OS is Windows 7 Premium 64 bit. Then later after resetting the screen resolution it happens, and the problems continues as such. Does anyone have any ideas?

Sure, (reload a fresh new video driver)
what game, name it ?
are you using an external screen, all the time or part time?
does device manager show all drivers for GPU and Screen ok>?
the
DV6929WM has hot key for external screen, mine has on/off/auto, turn it off.
this pc is only supported at VISTA. says HP.com
so you changed OS right?
that means only non HP drivers now work.
so that takes hard work.

here is what it came with
https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-dv6900-entertainment-notebook-pc-series/3725196/model/3757121

when you upgrade with no HP support, problems will be plenty
we have to fix them 1 by 1, the hard way,
getting each driver 1 by 1, see. ?
go to nivida.com and get i.
its a Geforce, (i have one of their fastest here now,)

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the driver for your video card in unit. If that does not do it then you have an issue with the video chip in your laptop.

Listen up, I have had a pretty bad virus on my computer before where this guy hacked in and created his own user account on my computer! Will, I noticed that my computer was detecting any viruses! Thats because he put a virus on my virus detector, so it couldnt detect viruses! I downloaded a different virus detector and got his viruses off of my computer right away! Try downloading a different virus protecter and try that!

SOURCE: My HP Pavilion tx 1000 continues to freeze every few minutes.

it is a 2 posibility problem: 1)driver problem;
2) cpu to hot , you must check if the cooler work;if yes you must open the case take out the whole cooler and clean the radiator wings(a lot of dust) and then apply new termal paste , the old is crusty.
That must solve your problem.

Your screen resolution need to be set i am not sure what operating system are you using but you can right click on the screen/ desktop, click on property, click on settings then you will set the resolution to either 1024 x 768 if you still have the problem you can set it to 1280 x 768 this should solve the resolution problem. As for the webcam and the hp media smart you should uninstall and reinstall the software/driver for the webcam and the hp Media Smart if you have the CD with the drivers/software you can use it to reinstall the drivers on the computer this should solve the problem.

HP Pavilion dv9700 laptop, Wireless stops working at random.

HP's normally use the Atheros wifi card which recently has had many problems such as what you describe here. Try a different wifi card to see if this solves the problem. If you don't have a wifi card take it to a local repair shop to see if they have one they can try for you.

Resolution problem . . . .

Resolution is normally set from the "Personalize" option of control panel. Under display settings it should say something like "Generic PnP monitor on NVIDIA MCP67M" above where the resolution slider is.

If this has changed to "Generic PnP monitor on (unknown) then your problem lies with the display driver. Visit Nvidia's site for the latest all in one driver for Vista that is suitable for your laptop.
