Sounds like you have either a short in your speaker wire somewhere, wires touching in the back of the unit or a short inside the stereo itself... Try pulling the radio out and unhooking all of your speakers...Turn unit back on after all speakers are disconected...If unit still shows protect, then radio is bad...If it doesnt, power off and hook up speakers one by one and power it back on till it shows protect again....When it does, the last speaker wire you hooked up has either a crossed wire or the speaker is bad...

Your owners manual should give you some answers. Lacking that, you could get a Chilton/Haynes repair manual for your make/model/year. There are sections for trouble shooting most areas, including the radio (if it's the stock system).

The red protect light comes on, i dont know how to make it go green so it will work. please help!!

Devices with several light emitting indicators would each display as observation of manufacturers installed features. Red indication is power cciuit indication, yelow as alternate warning where green is indication of regular fucntionality. Once the device is least malfunct, every light is an equal expectation. Usually with amplifeiers, the red light has to be on throughout until stereo became powered on to porduce green light effects as radio expectations.

Can you replace the led for the faceplate Jenson phase linear ump401? Thank you in advance

The display is not an LED (Light Emitting Diode) it is a LCD (Liquid Crystal Display), behind the display is a tiny light or light bulbs that back light the display, yes they can be replaced, you can buy the bulbs at Radio Shack if the number can be crossed over, but most likely they are a Radio Shack # 7219 Micro Lamp
