Hello and thanks using Fixya.

turn off the camcorder and remove the memory card. On the side of the memory card there is a small lever, move it to the other position and reinsert it into the camera.

The camera should work normally.

Samsung galaxy S3 phone camera not working..When turn on camera,no other function button on screen works & it says "camera failed"..any help? Many thanks :)

Let me guess.. you are using an external SD card, correct?
And, now you are having this camera failed issue. It's due a corruption with the SD card.

1) Go to Settings>Application Manager>(swipe right to left until you see) ALL>(Scroll down the list to "Camera") Tap on Camera> press "Clear Cache".
2) Power off your phone.
3) Take the back cover off your phone.
4) Remove your SD card
5) Restart the device
6) Wait a couple minutes for the phone to fully load. Then, re-insert the SD card.

The camera issue should be fixed.

7) go to the camera app, in the camera settings change how the camera saves photos to phone storage only (NOT to SD card, this is where the problem occurs). Doing so will help the camera take photos faster. The SD card is too slow for the camera. After taking your photos, you can move them to the SD card to clean up space and back up your photos in case your phone ever crashes or you ever become locked out of your device. I would use the SD card to back up all files not just photos.

Memory card locked

SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

Unable to take photos or delete photos message saying card locked

You didn't specify the make and model of your camrera, so I'll assume it uses SD cards.

Take the memory card out of your camera and look at it. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

I am unable to take photos with my samsung digimax s800 camera as the message 'CARD LOCKED' keeps coming up on screen. I have deleted loads of photos so the memory card is definitely not full. Any ideas?

My granddaughter bought me a 4GB mmc card. when I put it in I am unable to turn the camera on. what gives?

Hi there, check the battery first is that fully charged? if not then charged it. Then remove the mmc card and see is that locked or not. If locked then unlocked it. After that put back the mmc card in camera inside properly & try to on your camera. If the same things happens then your camera does not support 4GB MMC card & that's why is not turn on. I see the manual & there not mentioned about maximum capacity of card.
Thanks & waiting for your feedback.

Screen shows 'card locked' ,Unable to take photos Memory card checked. It is not 'locked'. Exchanged yto new card but still ;card locked'.

Remove the SD card from the camera. Slide the tiny switch on the side of the card to its other "unlocked" position. Reinsert the card in the camera. But if you've already tried this, see this link for additional things that you can try.
