hi 1) Check that the power cable is plugged in and that the power button on the projector cabinet or the remote control is on. See pages E-16 and 17 in the manual http://www.fixya.com/user-guide/p155892,m5221,gm34/NEC-VT460-Multimedia-Projector.aspx 2) Ensure that the lamp cover or lamp housing is installed correctly. See page E-30. 3) Check to see if the projector has overheated or the lamp has reached the end of its usable life. If there is insufficient ventilation around the projector or if the room where you?re presenting is particularly warm, move the projector to a cooler location 4) You have pressed control panel key when Control Key Lock is enabled good luck

There are different rates at which the status light will blink to indicate various errors. See manual (link below) page 49 http://www.support.nec-display.com/dl_service/data/user_manual/ENGLISH/VT37/vt37_manual_e.pdf

If it is a lamp error try this:
When the lamp exceeds 2100 hoursof service, the projector cannot turn on and the manu is not displayed. Do the following:
For VT670/VT470 Press the help button on the remote control for a minimum of ten seconds.
For VT570/VT47 Press and hold the power and the exit buttons on the remote control simultaneously for a minimum of ten seconds. When the lamp time clock is reset to zero, the lamp indicator goes out. Hope this helps! :]

6 cycle (0.5 sec On,
0.5 sec Off) is a lamp error!
0.5 sec Off)
Lamp fails to light. Wait a full
minute and then turn on again.
Even though the lamp is not old there may be a defect in the lamp. I know the lamps are expensive but this may be the problem. If you have a lamp that was removed due to age but still worked you could use the lamp to test it.here is a link to the user manual:
Hope this helps. :}

Replacing the lamp with an old one was helpful for me. Good news: the projector itself not faulty. Bad news: I have two projectors with the same issue at the same time (the lamps were replaced also at the same time) after only 400 hours of running.
