Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

When I power my Presario 2500 on, it starts to boot, then I get the black and white screen asking if I want to start Windows normally, in safe mode, by command prompt, etc. When I select any choice, the computer powers off then tries to reboot again. Is this a motherboard issue?

There seems to be some issue on your hard disk. You may like to boot with a CD or USB stick or something and fix your hard disk or move files from your hard disk and reinstall Windows or perform a factory default restore.

I have my laptop stuck in safe mode. i checked safe boot by mistake, now why cant i get back to undo it?

Hi Steven-
Laptops should return to normal mode upon subsequent start-up. If it does not, when you (re)start your computer, begin tapping the F8 key repeatedly (like a woodpecker). After a few moments, this will bring up a manual start screen (white letters on a black background)-you will see an option to Start Using Windows Normally down toward the bottom of the screen. Using your arrow keys, scroll down to that choice and hit ENTER. Your PC will then boot up in regular mode.

Black screen after windows start up. Power is on system boots up windows vista icon appears, and then the screen goes black.

Sorry you are having trouble. Try this: turn unit on. Press F8 to goto safe mode. Goto control panel. Goto System. Goto Device Manager. Look for display adapters. Remove whatever is listed there (write it down first) Reboot to normal mode. What should happen is that windows will detect a display adapter and install it. let me know if you need more info.

Start Normally (black screen with options)keeps re-loading itself

If you can't get into windows normally or into safe mode to try to restore the system back to a date when it worked properly then you'll need to wipe out the hard drive and start the system from scratch.

Compac presario R3000 problem

That screen is normal but only shows on certain occasions. Just use your arrow keys to highlight "Start Windows Normally" and press enter and you will continue to the blue sign in screen. If the removal software asks you start Windows in "Safe Mode", then restart the computer and select "Safe Mode with Networking".

Most common method for receiving that screen and those options is pressing a specific key during start-up for additional start-up methods. Another reason which may be the reason for your case is that something went wrong during start-up. Just follow the instructions above and it will be fine. Usually the reason why you are asked to choose is shown at the top of the screen and it will tell what the problem is.
