NO POWER AT ALL

Hi
our tv set need to be serviced. Here are some tips:
1. Open main fuse. The fuse is clean but interrupted. You can try replacing it with one o the same value.
2. Fuse Blown or blackened. Short in the rectifier bridge or in the switching transistor. Out of the power supply: supply line rectifier (100/150V) shorted.

Lenovo desktop PC Power supply probems after changing voltage setting from 230V - 115V

If your country uses 240V mains then flicking the switch to 115V bypassed a voltage divider and probably blew the fuse in the power supply. If you are comfortable working with mains voltage, you can pop the PSU open and check the fuse. If it's blown then just get another one with the EXACT same ratings and you should be up and running again.

If it's not the fuse then you have bigger problems and it's time to replace the PSU. Any PSU should work as long as the wattage is the same as the original or higher.

Also, you could call Lenovo to see if the PC is under warranty. If so, the PSU is probably a user replaceable part, meaning they will send you a new one to put in and you just send the old one back.

Standby blinking green button went off and now cannot turn on. cord connection ok and eveything unplugged that might interfere

I guess your power supply died. try to disable the power supply and enable it again (switch behind the tower) otherwise you should get it checked out by a professional.

My tower wont turn on

Obvious places to start is checking that the power cable is in all the way, switched on at the wall socket and that the fuse hasn't blown in the plug/extension lead. If they're all ok it could be a dirty contact or a faulty switch on the power button, a loose connection attached to the switch or worst case scenario your main PSU (power supply unit) has died. It's not the end of the world if it has, swap out the old one and invest in a quieter replacement from QuietPC

Why when i switch my hp 6720s on does the battery light flash amber then goes white nd the laptop switches off? all in 5 seconds

It sounds as if the battery is too low to power the unit on.
Firstly insert the battery. When you plug the PSU into the machine does a charging light turn on? If not then check the fuse in the mains plug as it may have blown. If the fuse is OK then you may have a defective PSU, although the motherboard could also be defective. Try a new PSU to determine if which component is faulty.
Now remove the battery and insert the PSU. Will the machine turn on or do any power lights illuminate? If power lights illuminate and the machine will not turn on then I would suggest the motherboard is at fault. If the machine turns on briefly the turns off before displaying the splash screen then I would suggest the RAM, CPU or motherboard is at fault.
If the unit works without the battery installed then it is probably a battery problem, although it is possible the charging circuit n the motherboard is fried.
Hope this helps,

Power supply or motherboard problem?

Hi talissap,

The blinking light is telling you something about the PSU. First check any AC mains voltage select switches for proper setting. US should be 115. Second if you have a multimeter, you could test the PSU for voltage. Disconnect all power to all components. remove all components from the board including cpu, memory . Leave the PSU only plugged into the board. Press power. If the fan turns on then it's not the power supply. The brand power supply isn't the best, I've seen where you need to wait for 5-20 minutes for the blinking to stop, at which time it will fire up. Now, if it doesn't power up, then it's most likely the PSU.

Good Luck,

Mark

Short Circut, blows fuses instantly.

OK usually the fuse goes because the Amp's IC's are drawing too much current thus the fuse blows... either this OR the Power Supply has gone Kaput. It is possible to replace the output IC's.. as it is to fix the PSU.. But it really is a shop job..
