The first thing to do is make sure it is charged and the charger is working. Make sure you have green light on the ON button.

If it is on, but only displays the Palm logo, and you can't turn it off, it is likely that you need to do either a soft or hard reboot. These are described on page 1.6 of the manual, which can be downloaded from the Garmin site. If you don't have the manual:

Soft Reset-unscrew the blunt end of the stylus and insert the skiiny tip into the reset hold at the botttom left of the rear of the unit.

If this doesn't work, do a hard reset by pressing the soft reset buttom and then immediately holding the On button down until the Palm Logo comes up. I've only had to do this once in all the years I've had the unit. You need to resync to get the voice navigation and other features to work.

Easy. Buy a battery on ebay and install as follows; http://www.pdainternalbattery.com/1a2w423c2install.html.

I did if first time and all worked very well. Take great care though as some parts are fragile.

SOURCE: Garmin Stopped working altogether

Try connecting the GPS to your computer with the included USB cable. If it charges this way then you can assume that the Charger is defective.

Garmin will fix or replace a defective GPS within the first year. Go to http://www.garmin.com then click on the support tab. You can follow the menu selections to obtain warranty support.

How do I restore the qwerty keyboard to my 1390T?

Contact Garmin at https://support.garmin.com/support/searchSupport/escalateForm.htm . They will send you a zip file with the complete keyboards folder and directions to restore to your unit. Mine was missing altogether after I lost the maps too. It was easy to copy to the gps unit and now the qwerty keyboard is back again.

Hi. My Garmin sat nav will only charge for approx one hour, then stops charging altogether when using the car charger, if i use the usb on my pc it will charge fully, also it will charge fully when...

From your description I suggest purchasing a new car charger probably a weak component in the charger itself. You can get one at Garmins website at www.garmin.com but I think you will find one much cheaper on Ebay.

I hope this helps you out and if it does please leave me some positive feedback.

Try holding the power button for 10-15 seconds, and it should shut off, or possibly reboot altogether.

Was working then randomly and then stopped altogether

you will need to reset the unit by pulling off the face plate. once you unplug and power off the unit, hold the reset button down for 5 secs. after you release the reset button, power back up the device and it will be normal.

My Garmin 660 will no longer plot a destination...

Have you loaded a lot of JPGs or MP3s on the internal memory? If so, you have reduced the amount of memory available to the 660's OS. Not sure if the 660 stores calculated routes directly to the internal flash memory, but it is very likely, since it keeps your route when you power it down.

To unload the internal memory, consider buying an SD card - they are cheap right now. As a matter of fact, I just ordered an 8GB SD card for my 660 from Amazon for $13. The 4GB and 2GB cards are available for about $7 and $3 respectively. Drrrrrt cheap!

You can access the internal memory of the 660 on your computer with the USB cable you got with the 660. The two folders to focus on are the JPEG and MP3 folders. Simply copy these folders' contents to the root directory of the SD card, and then go into each folder in the GPS memory and delete the MP3s and JPEGs you added - should work better. The 660 will recognize the files on the card if left in folders named identically to the folders in the internal memory.

If you didn't add any content to the internal memory, that is a different issue altogether, probably something to discuss with Garmin. Could be as simple as upgrading the firmware. Make sure you select the correct version though, or it could be a fancy brick! Go here for the nuvi 660:

https://buy.garmin.com/shop/store/downloadsUpdates.jsp?product=010-00540-00&cID=164&pID=31946

Good luck, and I hope this helped!

Garmin Nuvi stopped working and won't restart

Got a Garmin Nuvi 260. Same problem. I read the booklet. There's a reset button on the bottom. Disconnect from power. Push the reset button. Connect back to power. Now it works. The reset button is tiny and looks more like just text on the bottom sticker than it does a button. But push it anyway.
