Hi lutbarajas--
If the engine's plug is continually fouling, you may have an improperly rated spark plug. It sounds to me like the plug you have in the mower is burning too hot. Take the plug to your local lawn and garden supply shop and see if they can size a cooler burning plug for you. If the plug is original, and you have never tinkered with the carburetor adjustments, the plug may just need replacing.
--Hope this helps.

My mower started making smoke and then stop working?

SOUNDS LIKE THE OIL HAS FLODDED THE SPARK PLUG. REMOVE THE SPARK PLUG AND CLEAN IT USEING A WIRE BRUSH AND SOME BREAK PARTS CLEANER. THEN DROP SOME OF THE OIL OUT. YOU MAY HAVE PUT TOO MUCH IN THE ENGINE. THE SMOKING WAS CAUSED BY THE OIL BEEING BURNED BY THE SPARK PLUG. SOME HOW OIL GOT IN THERE. TRY CLEANING THE INSIDE OF THE SPARK PLUG OPENING WITH SOME CARB CLEANER. PUT THE SPARK PLUG BACK IN AND TRY TO START IT. REMEMBER IF THE SPARK PLUG IS FOULED UP, IT WILL RUN POORLY OR NOT AT ALL.

Muffler turn red hot

You need to change the spark plug. Your mower is probably misfiring and your gas is burning in the muffler. The spark plug may have been fouled by a host of things including dirty fuel.

Unable to start lawn mower for 2 days - what could be the problem

remove the air filter and prime the motor...do you see or smell fuel?

If not....you may have a blocked inlet or a bad primer.
Remove the spark plug and check for spark..you may want someone else to look while you pull the starter rope a few times. The plug has to lay on something metal from the engine so it is still grounded to spark.

If you have spark put a splash of fuel into the hole the plug goes into and reinstall the plug and try to start it. Does it start? then you have confirmed the carb issue and should get the carb serviced or replaced.

If you dont have spark you either have a fouled plug, bad magneto, or a shorted kill switch. I would say that is also the order in which the occur most frequently.

Now...also be sure your fuel is fresh and free of any contamination. A lot of people put new gas in cans that have accumulated a ton of water!
So....everytime they refuel...they put water in their mowers....true story.

Good luck and be careful!

Is puttering and is not as powerful as it was. I

Carb is all gummed up. It will need to be taken apart, dismantled, and cleaned out. Soak in solvent for couple hours. Also check that spark is good. If weak, sand flywheel and coil with emri cloth.
