Question about HP ScanJet 2200C Flatbed Scanner

Hppsapp.exe has encountered a problem and need to close.

I have a HP Scanjet 2200C Scanner, i do not have the CD rom driver for it, so i have downloaded the the driver + Update from the HP Website.

The problem i have is, when i try to save the scanned picture i get the following error message...


Error signature

The message then says this program will now close.... and it does.... Bugger !!

Any ideas whats going on?

I hear that some HP hardware is not to compatible with XP, is this true??

    I solve the HP 2200c Scan Jet's problem(hppsapp.exe) with your succession but Scannning image is very poor quality, black and white dotted comes different portion of the image.

First make sure you have downloaded the current version of the software for yourOS.

Next, uninstall the software that you have already and reboot the system. Now reinstall the software, plug in the scanner only when instructed to do so in the software. Try that and post back with results.

You will first have to preview the document and then save it..

    Make sure you have calibrated the scanner through the scanner properties box first. If you do not have this tool, then it is likely that the scanner sensor is defective and you will have to service it.

    By the way, Inappropriate ratings are negative and only if the solution has nothing to do with the question. Since I did solve your issue, kindly change the rating to either Helpful or Fixya..

It is not a compatibility problem, as that scanner is designed to be run on all versions of Windows. The thing to do would be to unistall the drivers and the scanner from add/remove - both software and hardware. Then go to the hp site and download the proper driver for the OS you're running. Make sure to NOT have the scanner installed until after you install the software. Here is the link to d/l the drivers.

Try going to Hp solutions website and download the updated drivers for windows 7. Usually the drivers come with windows operating system. But you may need a new driver for the unit to work correctly.

I cannot get the drivers for my HP Scanjet 2200c. It worked in XP but now I dont have the disk. I have tried the old XP drivers and they dont work. There are no updates available under windows update or HP...

Can i use my hp 2200c scanner with windows 7. What driver i need?\r Where can i find it?

You could purchase vuescan, but quality is not like the scanner's own software under Windows XP. For some (but not me) it helps to install the hp driver in the compatibility mode (>properrties >compatability, select Windows XP (Servicepack 3)) then install with the scanner unplugged. After installation do the same (>properties >compatability, select Windows XP (Servicepack3) for all exe files in the folder with the scanner software, Than plug the scanner. It often works, but if not (like in my case) I don't know why.

Scanjet 2200c under Windows 7

HP does not have a driver for this scanner with either Vista or Windows 7. One workaround is available in Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate. You can set up the XP mode and install the scanner within the virtual computer. Scanned files may need to be put on an external drive to transfer them between the two "computers".

Older scanner that were around in Dos day - Win 95/8
Are not compatable with NTFS systems.
However this one thing to try.
Go to my computer/Help/and type /Compatability
This computer facility that allows the computer to run as Win 98- It may just work.
