Both Canon's I've had could do that (BJC 1000 and 2100), along with my brothers Canon Pixma MP150 .... My current printer can aswell, but thats an office network printer (HP Laserjet 4000 TN) All 4 of the printers I've mentioned are old by todays standards however, but the newer models will likely still support it (can't imagine any reason for their removing support for it).

Paper keeps jamming in the fuser. I have tried setting the levers in both directions - not sure which is the correct positioning for them, as it doesn't seem to make much difference.

if you have many jams in the fuser probably the roller have dry toner attached to them. print a heavy paper - 300gsm - without any color, just a small dot. see if the paper comes out of the fuser and if it;s dirty or not. repeat that until the pages com out clen - both sides. then print what you have again,

I have an HP Photosmart A646 printer that I bought in the hopes of printing to 5x7 card stock. We have pre-printed card stock that we use for gift certificates and we need to be able to feed the card stock...

Thanks for visiting FixYa!

Depending on the program you are using to print your gift certificates, try this-

1) Open the program and open the file you use for your gift certificate.
2) Click on 'Layout' then 'Page Set Up' (probably found in the top menu bar by the right side of, FILE.)
3) Select 'Landscape' and then select, 'Custom'.
4) Enter 5x7 for height and width.
5) Enter the information you need in the data field, (ie, name address, etc.)
6) Select, Print.
7) When the 'Print Manager' box opens, click on, 'Properties'.
8) Click on, 'Type' and choose, "Envelope'.
9) Click on, 'Size' and choose 5x7. - and click, OK.

Your printer should have a slide where the paper is inserted. Place one of the 5x7 cards in the slot just as you would an envelope and slide the slider until it is 'close' to the card but not directly against the card.

Click, 'Print'. The printer should recognize the card (due to its thickness) as an envelope and print it.

Printer won't print with Hahnemuhle 300gsm papers.

Brand new printer feed up to 350 gsm paper. Rubber paper paper pick up deterioration. Replace paper feeder. Or find similar solution (repairing paper feeder) on aicaxz's for resolving this.

Photo paper jam what thickness of photo paper should i use for a hp photosmart 8250 i keep getting jammed up and think the paper is to thick

Be sure and check the printing properties before printing. make sure that you specify the kind and thickness of the paper. This way the printer expects that thickness when printing. Sometimes, glossy paper makes the printer jam easily. Try putting around 25 regular paper on bottom of special paper and see if that helps.

Black colour prints faded

Have you adjusted the settings on the machine and in the driver to heavy stock? That will make a difference in the transfer of the image adn the fusing.
Telling the machine you are printing onto heavier stock makes a differenec. if this is a print job, it will have to be changed on the machine and in the print driver. The machine will ask you to confirm the paper settings when you add paper.
You have to select the paper type in the driver.

Printing to card

The solution in this case is to either use Canon card paper to print on or set the media type in your printer driver to the correct paper.

The paper you are using is not absorbing the ink correctly, so when the paper exits the machine the rollers are contacting the ink and causing the smudging.

Either you have to alter how much ink is being used by changing the media type in the printer driver, or you have to buy the correct Canon paper

I've seen this happen on Canon's Photo printers when a generic glossy paper was used. Switching to canon paper solved the problem.

Can't print onto thick card

Have you tried specifying the paper type and weight INSTEAD of the tray. Set the tray properties first, then print. If you leave it on auto tray it will use the tray that matches your paper type and weight.
