Question about Samsung YP-K3 MP3 Player

My computer doesn't recognise my YP-K3J

I bought my Samsung YP-K3J and installed the software onto my laptop. But from day one, whilst I can charge my mp3 player on the laptop, it isn't recognised at all. I have installed and uninstalled the software, and but I the Samsung Media Player still won't link to the player.
I think part of the problem may be because this is my second mp3 player (first one was lost) and I initially used my PC to put songs onto the player. I then moved to a new country and only have my laptop, but assumed that with the software on my laptop I would still be able to use my mp3 player normally. So, I have *some* songs on the player, but I can't add or delete anything.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance :D

Thank you very much ThaMp3Doctor, but it didn't work.

I should probably give you more details: when I connect the mp3 player to my laptop, I get a window's message called 'MTP Media Player', and it gives me two options: sync digital media files to the device using Windows Media Player, or open device to see files. Neither of these options work - I can't add any new songs to the ones I have already added using my old PC, and I can't view any of these existing files either using the second option.

So anyway, I did what you suggested, but the player doesn't have a 'volume +' button per se, it is a touch pad...but I held down the arrow that puts sound up anyway, and nothing happend - I just got the same 'MTP Media Player' box popping up, and it didn't matter how long I held the "button" down for.

Thanks though :) Don't suppose you have any other suggestions?

Oh - and sorry for the delay, I have been without internet.

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

When the window pops up aksing you what you want to do, tell it to take no action. Then manually open up Windows Media Player to see if the files are there. Make sure all the files are in the correct format, and that the music svc subscription (if you have oen) is current. If all of the above holds, disocnnect the player and see if you can see the songs.

If you cannot, then reformat the player and re-add the songs.

The thing worked for me.
I have Win XP SP 2 with EmoDio (earlier that samsung stuff) installed. And all that didn't worked for me. I solved it by downloading MPT driver for windows XP
and then looked for my hardware (Yp-3k) and installed automatically driver, which was that MPT driver. Now all is fine. Hope that helps you as well! :)

Download the latest driver software from the Samsung website with the link below and install it on your PC. Click on downloads > Software.
If that doesn't fix the problem, try connecting it to other USB ports as the one you tried could be faulty or some USB ports do not provide enough power for the device to get connected.

I cannot install my samsung YP-K3J MP3 Player onto my PC - HELP!!

Try to update the driver of the player.

Go to the START menu.
Click on RUN. type in devmgmt.msc and hit enter.
Make sure you have the player plugged in and the installer CD should be on your CD drive.
Now look for the category PORTABLE DEVICES or OTHER DEVICES.
the YP-K3 should be listed there with a yellow question mark.
Right click on it and select update driver. Follow the prompts to update.
The player should be recognized after that.

Hope this helps!

My YP-K3 won't turn on

Do you have mediaplayer 10 or 11 installed?

Media player 11 is seriously screwed up software and will cause your computer not to recognise the player
You will need to remove ALL traces of media player 11 from you computer.
