Your drain hose should be secured up inside the cabinet at a level higher than the base of the sink to prevent water from going from the disposer back into the dishwasher. There is a anti back-up valve in most dishwashers, but they are not totally effective against water from the sink coming back into the machine.
Get yourself some bread ties and get that hose up as high as you can under the sink so that it comes out of the disposer, goes up, and then back down to the dishwasher. This will also prevent crud from getting accumulated at the end of the drain hose where it connects.
Good luck!

When we turn the garbage disposal on the water backs up into the fisher Paykel dishwasher. What do we need to do to fix this?

Replumb the outlet for the dishwasher into a different drainpipe. The installer put your dishwasher outlet onto your garbage grinder outlet.
If there is only one drain pipe under your sink then things get difficult.
You can try to lift the outlet hose from the washing machine a little bit but that might cause problems in your dishwasher.
A backflow valve on your dishwasher outlet might work if there is one available.

Check you drain is not blocked slighty (highly likely with a garbage disposal) and causing back pressure. Draino; Boiling Hot water; bicarb and vinegar,

Was it working properly a while ago?

This sounds like a question already answered by another expert, where he mentioned that if the dishwasher is only 9 months old, that you should contact the seller, lest you void the warranty by trying to fix it yourself. That being said, I would recommend that you check the end of the drain hose where it goes into the garbage disposal, and make sure it is not plugged or clogged there. Also make sure that port in your garbage disposal is clear. If you just bought a new garbage disposal, be aware that they come with a molded-in plastic plug at the end of that dishwasher port, and you have to knock it out with a nutdriver (or some similar tool) and a hammer.

Our sink and garbage disposal was clogged up. We got the sink unclogged, but the dishwasher had dirty water in the bottom and won't drain.

Your dishwasher drains into the garbage disposal. It you tried to use a plunger to clear your clogged sink or run the disposal with to much junk in it you may have force debris into the dishwasher drain hose. With both the dishwasher and garbage disposal disconnect from power disconnect the dishwasher drain hose from the garbage disposal. This is usually about a one inch black hose. Clear out any debris in the hose and inlet nipple on the garbage disposal. If debris is compacted far down the hose it will need to be disconnected from the dishwasher end and remove to clear the blockage.

Good luck!

I have a 2004-05 Bosch dishwasher SHU43C. The motor is running, but it is not pumping water. Is there a belt in this? What do I need to look at to check out this problem?

I just paid $200 because I had the same problem and couldn't figure out what the issue was. My problem was the water in the bottom of the dishwasher couldn't be pumped out completely because the disharge line was clogged (only a little) from food that backflowed into it from my sink. The repair man cleared that out and now it works like new. The ultimate issue is that I have a garbage disposal and the dishwasher discharge line goes directly into the pipe above the garbage disposal, so if food/water is in the sink, it can flow back towards the dishwasher. I have since taped the discharge line to the top of the sink to minimize the chance for food to flow back towards the dishwasher.

WHEN I RUN MY SINK IT DRAINS INTO MY DISHWASHER BOTTOM. I HAVE SNAKED THE HOLE AND IT STILL FILLS THE BOTTOM THEN I RUN IT EMPTY THEN FILL AND RUN AGAIN. HELP

The dishwasher drain line that connects to the garbage disposal or pipe under the sink should be looped above the height of disposal or pipe to prevent
sink water from backflowing into dishwasher.

Most dishwashers have some form of internal backflow preventer inside the water sump assy..
Yours may be degraded or stuck open.

Once my dishwasher completed the cycle there is no water but after two or three days the bottom of the dishwasher fills with the dirty water. what could be the reason? I have garbage disposal and one pipe...

You must have your dishwasher connected directly to the garbage disposal and not through an air gap. What is happening is when you disposal fills with water it is siphoning through the drain hose back to the dishwasher. If you sink has a spare hole on the deck install air gap and run dishwasher drain through air gap first. Otherwise make sure you run Garbage disposal often so that water does not get slowed and build up inside.

Try running citric acid (3 tablespoons) through.
You can get it from a drug store.
Or, run 1/2 cup vinegar through.
Do this in both the dish washer and the disposal.
After doing this try running some water into the disposal and then see if the next time you run the dishwasher if it still smells.
You could be having a problem with water not staying in the drain trap under your sink that is why if you run water and fill the trap, then you will find out if it was the dry trap that caused the smell from sewer gases backing up into the house trough the garbage disposal.

There is a drain hole in the side (probably) of the garbage disposal which must be manually "punched out" in order to attach the hose from the dishwasher to the garbage disposal and thereby allow for draining. Think of this as the dishwasher piggy-backing on the existing drain system for the sink/garbage disposal. I am certain this will solve your problem.

Bad smell

It sounds like your dishwasher does not have an air gap. Newer dishwashers come with an air gap installed, but they can be taken out. A quick fix for this is to:

Check the drain line under the kitchen sink. The drain line is supposed to run from the bottom of the cabinet, and run as high in the cabinet as you can get, (up to the bottom of the counter top) then connect the drain. This is called an air gap, and helps keep a little water in the drain line, which will prevent sewer gases from entering your dishwasher, and garbage disposal.
