I have tried al the things mentioned by you but no result. I like to open the files on my computer. I hear the tone connection when the unit connects to my computer but it will not show an e file in the "open up" on My Computerdrive. I can use the playback on the RCA unitg it self, but thought that it would be somewhat easier and simpler through my computer. The playback on the RCA unit is battery driven. When I try to open it using the Digitak Voice Manager in my program list nothing happens.

    Thanks. John Wentzel

I do not know what driver it was used. I downloaded from RCSaudiovideocom. and everything went ok. Now when I click on File A to hear the content of my speech it goes to winamp and every freezes up. it looks that winamp is not working and do not know what other file will do it. Hope you have some suggestion
    Thanks John

Ok, and what are you trying to do with the device, pull the files off of it? Have you go into My Computer (Start button, My Computer) and it's possible the drive will show up there... maybe even as a new drive letter (E: for example...).

    Thanks

It may not be made to be played in Winamp... so did you extract the file from the player on your local computer? So now it is somewhere on your computer in addition to on the recorder, correct? What kind of a file is it?

Let me know these things and I can help

Are you able to open the files on the recorder.... and see the files there? If so you should be able to drag them onto your desktop for example. Can you do this? If so you should be able to tell what kind of files they are... .wav files maybe?

It just calls it File A? Not something like File A.wav ? Or maybe next to or underneath it it says WAVE FILE or MP3 FILE, something like that? Maybe it'll be easiest for me to connect to your computer and view what you are looking at. If you want to do that just download and open this file:

    http://www.teamviewer.com/download/TeamV...

When you open it, it will give you an ID and PASSWORD, go ahead and reply with those and I will connect to your computer (leave the team viewer program that gives them to you open) and I will connect.

    Thanks
    Tim

What do I do if the software on the recorder has been erased and I cannot retrieve the recordered infor from my PC.

If you insert the vr5220 into the computer USB port, it will reinstall the RCA Digital Voice Manager for you. If it does not, you can search on VR5220 for a download location http://www.rcaaudiovideo.com/audio/voicerecorders/?sku=VR5220

at the bottom of the page is a Download tab which has the DVM, download and do the reinstall

When I plug in my rca vr5220-a to the usb port on my mac it no longer recognizes the drive.

Your best bet is to play the recordings through the headphone connector to a pc audio line-in connector and capture the audio using something like Audacity. Then output them using audacity to mp3 to play on your mp3 player. I suspect that a similar program is available for mac also.

These VR5220 units are notorious for their failing USB feature.

Good Day! My father suddenly deleted his file on my recorder from a PC Link without the software. After which, my speaker is not working but the recorder can still record and I can play the file using the...

I don't believe that any of the working program files are accessible through the PCLINK feature. The files on the recorder other than the four folders A, B, C, D are the rcadvmsetup.exe and the autorun.inf file, neither of which should affect anything. This recorder has proven itself to be quite unreliable if you pull it out of the USB slot without finishing and releasing the device, trying to delete files without using the special program, etc. It also has been quite unreliable using USB. If the speaker no longer works, the chances are that something more drastic happened. Your best bet is to contact RCA support. I doubt that there is anything to be done for it - too cheap at $22 to spend much time on it. Of my two units, one has quit operating with PCLINK and the other is fine. The one with the USB problem has an 11 hour recording on it that I want to get off, but the only way is to play it for 11 hours! The speaker quit on it too. Before it quit I had periodic failures of the USB to linkup. Then it just quit.
