Make sure there is no disc in the dvd drive or usb device plugged in.
Try booting into safe mode (F8 while booting) and try a system restore
It may be that its just your MBR (boot file) that is damaged, if you google fix mbr, you may be able to get it working again. (may need a windows disc)
You may also have an option of system recovery (factory restore) from the F8 menu or other boot menu depending on the make of the laptop

If the laptop turns on and does not bootup, the issue may be with the operating system itself. You will need to recover the operating system with the help of cd.

Well, I figured it out through the internet. It is a faulty battery. I removed the battery, plugged it, and it worked. Thanks anyways. FAULTY BATTERY!

Laptop monitor goes black

If you're working on the computer when that happens, it's not probably a power setting. Try to update your BIOS to the most current version at the toshiba support website ( & see what happens. Fixes the issue most of the time

I hope this helps.

Okay, lets troubleshoot this:

yes )test your jacks continuity to the motherboard using a continuity tester or Digital Multimeter.
a)test between the center contact and the motherboard.
b)test between the outside metal cover of the jack ,and the motherboard.
c)If either of these fails continuity, replace the jack.

Power cycling

Hi, If the power on/boot up sequence does not even reach the Windows logo before recycling, it is not a software/virus issue. If at certain times the laptop would continue powering up and booting into Windows but more often recycle the powering up process then I am inclined to think that it is a hardware problem. Hardware possibilities: 1. Might be loose connection or corroded terminals/connectors; 2. Cold solder of surface mounted components in the mainboard; 3. a USB device is interacting - try booting without any USB devices attached; 4. try running the Toshiba without the battery and just the AC adapter; Your possible options: a. Try performing #s 3 and/or 4 and note if there is a significant change in the booting process; b. 1 & 2 would require opening the laptop and do a circuit diagnosis, you might be better off seeking the services of a qualified professional. Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turn up or should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.
