Question about Canon Cameras

1 Answer

I have a Canon A720. I take a few pictures & then it just freezes & won't do anything more. So I assume it needs new batteries. It may take a few more & freezes again. Is that fixable?

I think this was helpful. Time will tell whether it works or not. But I do have some direction to go now rather than tossing the camera. Thanks.

Base from the description of your problem the camera here really needs a new battery and for the fix of the problem, what you can do is to reset or restore ca,era to its default settings from the camera Menu and then check if that corrects the problem.

But after doing those and still same problem this camera has some mechanical problem and yes it can still be fix and you can take it to camera repair near your place to have the camera fix.

I need to download some pictures from my camera, Cannon Power shot A720

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

I have tried downloading pictures from my Canon a720 to both my pc and my Mac, neither computer recognizes the camera. I am not sure what to try next.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

My A720 IS (just aquired) wears out a new set of alkaline batteries in about 25-30 pictures. I've tried two different brands with the same results. Other cameras I've used with the same batteries will...

I only use Energizer Lithium or Ultimate Lithium batteries, the other wore out too fast for me too. I tried to be environmentally friendly, but not when you can only take as you said 20 - 30 photos.

IT KEEPS TELLING ME TO CHANGE THE BATTERIES (EVEN WHEN THEY'RE NEW BATTERIES) AND SHUTS DOWN COMPLETELY.

Couldn't find a firmware upgrade for my Canon PowerShot A720. Tried putting a piece of rubber under the spring on the lid to make it tighter and it helped because I can take more pictures before I get the dead battery message (even thought they aren't dead). I bought the Duracell that you can check the charge on because I'm sure I've wasted dozens of batteries by now.

Ihave an A70; it went dead. it is not the battries, lithium battery and memory chip is fine. Comletely died on me. Thanks

I did not receive a fix ya solution; somebody sent me a post that included links for new cameras. I was put off by this smart *** type of response.

I ended up finding my bill for the camera and it still had warranty; I took it to Staples where I bought it and they gave me a 50% depreciated value for the camera. I will never by another Cannon camera and I will never shop at staples again, bad experiences with both.

Wont take pictures with flash

The problem is in the battery holder of the CR1220 battery.

-Take out the CR1220 battery (the little round one).

-When you replace it, put a bit of aluminum foil against the back, between the battery and the plastic holder, to make it a nice tight fit. One layer won't do it, but don't put in half the roll.

-Put it back in. Done

Using a fresh battery & clean it all with alcohol = good idea as well. Worked for me.

My Powershot A720 IS will not zoom, buttons don't work

Try removing the battery, and put both the camera and battery aside for 1/2 + hour. Reinsert the battery (this will set the camera back to the factory default state) setup the camera again eg date & time etc.
If this doesn't fix the problem then the camera is damaged.
