  1. Check that all of the audio cables, such as the speaker or headphone cables, are securely connected to the computer. If your speakers require external power from a power outlet, ensure that the plug is securely inserted into the outlet. Most models of computer speakers have an indicator light, which is illuminated when the speakers are on and receiving power.
  2. Ensure that the speakers are turned on and that the speaker volume is set to its normal level.

  3. Click on the speaker icon, located beside the clock on the Taskbar. Ensure that the "Mute" button is not checked and the volume is turned up to its normal level.
  4. Plug a different set of speakers or headphones into the audio jack to determine if the speakers have failed or the problem lies within the computer.
  5. Open the Control Panel, located on the "Start" menu, then click "Administrative Tools." Select "Component Services," then select "Services." Ensure that your computer's audio is enabled in the Services window.
  6. Open the "Start" menu, then right-click on "Computer" and select "Properties." Click "Device Manager," located in the top left corner of the window. Once in the Device Manager window, double-click "Sound, video and game controllers," then right-click on your sound card and click "Update." Windows will automatically search for updates to your sound card and install the updates, if any are found.
  7. Right-click on your sound card once again in the Device Manager window, then click "Uninstall." Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the removal of your sound card driver, then restart your computer. Upon restart, Windows will automatically detect and install your sound card.

Go to the support web site of the manufacturer of your computer or audio card to download and install the latest audio driver compatible with your OS. If this does not work, try the audio patch from Microsoft which is available at the following web site: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888111

Hope this helps, a rating/comment would be appreciated if this helps.

You need to install sound driver separately after installing XP.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Problem loading XP Serve Pack 2 in Gigabyte 8I845GVM-RZ

I know this may sound mundane, but did you load the correct set of windows drivers for the Intel 845 chipset? I mistakenly loaded the Home drivers onto a unit I tried to install Pro on and I got all sorts of errors.

THE INSTALLATION OF WINDOW SERVICE PARK GOES LIKE THIS. IF YOU ARE USING WINDOW XP WITH SP1 THEN YOU CAN UPGRADE IT WITH SP2. IF YOU ARE USING WIN2000 FOR INSTANCE YOU CAN NOT IINSTALL SP1 OR 2 OF WIN XP ON YOU OS YOU MOST FIND SERVICE PARK FOR WIN2000 TO UPGRADE AND IT ALSO HAS TO START FROM 1 TO THE LATEST VALUE THAT IF YOUR WINDOW2000 HAS SP1 YOU WILL START WITH 2 YOU CAN JUNP TO SP3 OR 4.
