If safe mode does not work, try OS repair or reinstalled. This can indicate a corrupted OS. If reinstalling does not work either, it may indicate hardware failure. Try to isolate it by removing and reconnecting all components like RAM, hard disk, CD or DVD drive, battery and AC adapter and see how it goes.

Keyboard shortcuts on a HP Black Pavilion 20-b013w All-in-One Desktop ?

Hi Julie--I'm assuming by keyboard shortcuts you mean the way you used to get to safe mode by pressing F8 during bootup. If that's not what you meant, please clarify and I can revise the answer.

The easiest way to get to safe mode in Windows 8 is to move your mouse to the lower right corner of the screen to bring up the charms bar. Click on SETTINGS ---> POWER

The pop-up menu will give you three options, SLEEP, SHUTDOWN and RESTART.

HOLD DOWN THE SHIFT KEY and while continuing to hold it down, click on RESTART and this will immediately restart the computer and boot into ADVANCED STARTUP.

From the menu that appears, select the middle option, ADVANCED

then select SAFE MODE.

I power up my netbook, i see the start up screen, then start windows normally to check disc and restart.

Start the machine in SAFE MODE by clicking F8, and some machines are F10, during the bootup. Run a virus scan in the safe mode, I use Malwarebytes which is a free program.

Dell Optiplex GX280 restarts suddenly? all files closed and . the restart could be after 2,3 minutes of power on. I don't know why its behaving like this?

Hi, sounds like a crash, do you get any report messages after reboot? Try starting in safe mode; press Del button during initial bootup, once in safe mode you can reset to a time before the problem started. Hope this helps, if not come back to me?

Input signal out of range and the monitor keep going off

Your PC is putting too high of the resolution for the monitor to support. You need to set your PC video resolution to 1280 x 1024 @60Hz (native resolution) for this monitor. Bootup in safe mode (hitting F8 key during bootup) and set the resolution to 640x480 then reboot in normal mode, then reset the resolution to 1280 x 1024 @60 Hz.

Laptop hard drive

Restart your system in safe mode...(If you dont know how to, it is :- When you power on your system, keep tapping F8 key, then a screen will appear which tells you to choose from it, so select Safe mode Startup from here)..., then after you have bootup in safe mode, open my computer, and right click on your harddisk, then go to properties, then tools, then Under Error Checking, click on Check Now tab, Then select the two options there, which are Automatically Fix File System Errors and Attempt recovery of bad Sectors, then click on Start, it will then prompt you that it wants to reschedule it to next System restart, so accept it and restart your system, when your system restarts allow it to scan your harddisk fully. Incase you have two or more partitions, try and do the same thing for ALL of them.
This method will save your harddisk, depending on how bad it has become.
Hope It Helps.

Toshiba A-215 will not boot after windows update

Hi there.
Boot the machine into safe mode by restarting the PC, as it boots up hit the F8 key until it giver you a sub menu with safe mode at the top and select that.
Hopefully the system will boot into safe mode, if it does you want system restore (if you use Vista a pop up window will appear on the right hand side of the screen, click on system restore, with XP just follow on-screen instructions)
All you have to do is select a date to before you performed the updated and restore from there.
Please keep us posted!!

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!
