SOURCE: reset the cartrige after fill up
I'm not sure about Lexmark but some printer cartridges (Cannon) can't be refilled because the printers still think they are empty. You can buy a little gismo on ebay to reset the cartridges after you refill them. Good luck.

Assuming "cable modem" as some kind of DSL modem using your phone line for internet. Both your modem and MFU should be connected to the wall by a filter-separator, usually supplied with your DSL modem. Check its presens and proper connection. Remove any other joints or splitters

Most modern print cartridges are equipped with a page count chip that will disable the cartidge after a certain amount of prints.
Just refilling the cartridge will not solve the problem.
I would sugest not using refill cartridges

When a Lexmark cartridge is refilled, it will not be able to report its ink level.
Please note that all Lexmark printers work best when original supplies or genuine Lexmark cartridges are used. We do not recommend the use of third party, refilled or remanufactured cartridges - you might not get the print quality you expect from ink that is specially formulated by Lexmark.

I hope your printer is working properly now. If not, make sure that your printer is updated. The firmware update for your model addresses the printhead problem you are experiencing. Please visit the Lexmark website to download and install the Lexmark S400 Series Firmware Update.
