Does it have a heating element

Yes, as with all dryers, this unit has a heating element. This site: has a diagram of the dryer including the pair of heating elements. See part 3 in this Dryer Base diagram.

I hope this helps.

Heating element will not shut off after drying. Top of machine is warm/hot all the time.

Pull the plug out of the outlet , wait 30 minutes and replug it. This may fix it. If it doesn't it sounds like the relay that operates the heater is faulty. Go to This forum will show you where the relay is located, check the posts regarding heaters, it should help.

Dryer will not get hot. All the vents are clean.

Check for burnt out heating element and electrical connections to element and thermostats. If okay check all thermostats, operating and high limit, with an ohm meter. All must be in closed position. If element, thermostats, and electrical connections good then check timer.

Our dryer takes FOREVER to dry. Over an hour and a half for permanent press???? I am always a wet load behind. We have cleaned out vents. The dryer does get hot.

Is the dryer vented properly to the outside? Feel the amount of air flow when it's running and empty. It should be substantial. If it feels weak, you need to take the back off the machine. There is a metal 'box' that is connected to your vent line going out. Take the cover off the 'box and it is probably full of lint. This blocks the exit air and causes your problem.

The dryer won't run. Dry, extra dry, and coold down process lights are lit.

Hi, the lights are signaling a control fault the is concerning the logic sector of the control board/timer. you will need to make sure that the wiring harness is connected to all points and it should be in good condition. if there are no apparent issue with the wiring harness, replace the control.

Your best bet is to go to the Fisher and Paykel website at: this will give you a phone number to call for parts.

Personally I would not recommend anyone else for such a high end item as some of their models.
Hope this helps you out.

2008 Dryer

Did it make this noise the first time you tried drying a load of laundry? Is it possible that there's something (like a pebble, some change) that is making this noise?

If you can eliminate that possibility, since the machine is only 2 weeks old, don't worry too much about it. Call the company and exercise your warantee rights to get it fixed.

Let me know what happens.
