We have a new computer and we need to install our Maxtor EDA:9MN2A4-326 onto it to use as our back up. WE have moved recetly and I can't locate the software disc for the hard drive. Is there any way I can download this from your website or buy it? Urgent! We haven't backed up in weeks and we run our own business. THANKS>

U dont need to install the drver for installing a hdd in computr place it along the existing hdd do remove the jumpers and it will run ike any thing

Open it up, and gently move the pickup arm, see if it got knocked out of place. When it is free, close it up and try again. If it is under warranty, send it back first.

Hi, the new computer should recognise the OneTouch and find the right drivers when you plug it in.

The SafetyDrill recovery CD does not have the drivers on it. It is just for use as a boot disc if you want to completely restore your PC with a SafetyDrill copy which has been made earlier.

There is no installation CD but the Maxtor Manager utilities, including SafetyDrill, were originally on the OneTouch drive itself and should still be there if you explore it. To install Manager click on the icon called 'Launch' (which is a green forward triangle/arrow with an orange square off centre on it)

The 'guides' file should still be on the drive too.

BACK UP DATA ON MAXTOR EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE


1. plug in the hdd 2. browse to: start -> programs -> accessory -> backup 3. follow the instructions (if you want to back up all your data, use "all informations on this computer")
restore works the same (selecting restore)

Don't know how to upload data to new computer


Browse to the location on the new computer where you want to save the old data.
Right click and choose New Folder.
Name the folder Files from Old PC
Press enter twice and the new folder will open.
Plug the Maxtor USB into the new computer and turn on the power.
The drive will install and be given a drive letter in my computer.
Browse to the drive in My Computer and double click the Maxtor drive.
Browse to the folder where you saved the old data and open it.
Now do the keyboard command CTRL + A (select all) this will select all the files.
Click one of the selected files & drag them all to the new folder you have open and let go.
All of the files from the Maxtor will copy to your new computer.

I backed up my old Dell laptop last year. I bought a new Dell laptop. I want to access the backup on my Maxtor and cannot do it. I want to load it onto my new laptop. How do I do this? I want to back up...


Very Simple. Just connect the Maxtor External Hard drive to your new laptop. Open Windows Explorer and you will see the Maxtor appearing as a Drive. Access the files from the explorer.
My advice is that create a new folder on the maxtor and then do a backup of your new laptop on to this new folder.
DO the same for your office PC.

Hi, I lost user manual, need to restore files back to computer.


Provided that you can find your external drive using My Computer feature, double click on that drive icon and search the drive for the files you wish to put on the computer drive (C drive). If you right click the file or folder on the Maxtor external drive and then choose copy, you can go to the folder on the C drive that you want to paste them into, select it and then right click the folder icon and choose paste to put them into the folder. To make the process quicker, you might choose to paste all files and/or files from the Maxtor drive onto the computer desktop and then move them around later.

Performing a Clean Boot
THIS WILL TAKE IT BACK TO THE FACTOR SETTINGS
A clean boot resets the EDA to the factory default settings. All data is the Application folder is retained. You must
download the Clean Boot Package file from the Support Central and install on the EDA.
NOTE When the EDA powers up after inserting a battery for the first time, the device boots and powers on
automatically.
CAUTION A clean boot should only be performed by an authorized system administrator. You must connect the EDA
to AC power during a clean boot.
Removing AC power from the EDA during a clean boot may render the EDA inoperable.
To perform a clean boot:
1. Download the Clean Boot Package from the Support Central web site. Follow the instructions included in the
package for installing the package onto the EDA.
2. Simultaneously press the Power button and the 1 and 9 keys.
3. Immediately, as soon as the device starts to boot and before the splash screen is visible, press and hold the
left scan button for a few seconds.
4. Insert the EDA into a powered cradle.
5. The EDA updates and then re-boots.
6. Calibrate the screen.
Waking the EDA
The wakeup conditions define what actions wake up the EDA. These settings are configurable and the factory
default settings shown in Table 1-3 are subject to change/update.

When the EDA suspends by pressing
Power, these actions wake the EDA.
1. Power button is pressed.
