Question about Brother XL-5500 Mechanical Sewing Machine
Most likely your machine is not threaded right, read your manual closely and double check yourself. Rethread your machine, no mixed thread use same weight, color does not matter but weight does. With your presser foot down, your top thread should be had to pull, with it up it should pull freely. Make sure your bobbin is wound evenly, and on a fresh bobbin. Then put in a new needle. Now, if the machine is still acting up, it may be your timing. You can call Brother at 1-877-276-8437 customer support. if you need a manual, go to www.brother-usa.com.
