Question about HP OfficeJet G55 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Open Question

My HP J6410 has suddenly stopped being able to scan from the printer control panel. The printer screen displays the following message "No Scan Options" - "Refer to to device documentation to troubleshoot. Press OK", when I press either of the 'Start Scan' or 'Scan To' buttons. I cannot find the solution in the documentation. It is linked to a Toshiba Satellite and I run Windows Vista Ultimate. Previously have had no problems with this printer. I have rebooted the computer and also disconncted/ switched off the printer. Can anyone tell me what I should do? Thanks in advance. Ken P.S. An instruction from the computer, using either alternative or the HP software will force a successful scan, but this is not ideal

How to scan more than 1 page at a time

ADF : Place the item into the document feeder tray. The printed side faces up and the top edge goes into the tray first. Adjust the width guides to fit the item. Open HP Solution Center with one of the following methods:
  1. Click Start , click All Programs , click the HP folder, and then click HP Solution Center
  • Double-click the HP Solution Center icon on your desktop. A "Scanning from..." screen displays to prompt for scan settings. If this settings screen does not display before the scan starts, a preference was set to bypass the prompt. To adjust settings, follow these steps to turn the prompt back on:
    1. Cancel the scan, return to the home screen of HP Solution Center, and then click the Settings option.
    2. Click Scan Settings , and then click the appropriate option from the popup menu: Scan Picture Settings or Scan Document Settings .
    3. Select the check box, Prompt for settings at the time of scan , and then click OK .
    4. Click Home , and then start the scan again. On the "Scanning from..." screen, click the appropriate option under "Scan Shortcuts" on the left. Each shortcut has a default group of settings that display when you click it.
  • Click Change Settings , and then read through the drop-down menu choices for all of the settings for the shortcut, adjusting any settings as necessary. Also click the Advanced Picture Settings button and the Save to file Save Options button to view your choices and make any changes. Important : HP Solution Center versions and options vary, depending on your printer. For specific instructions on all the settings the software offers, click the Help button on the home screen or settings screens in HP Solution Center.
  • Click Scan . The preview screen might display, if you selected the option to show a preview. Use the options on the preview screen to make any desired adjustments before you finish the scan.
  • After the scan completes, it goes to the destination that you specified in the settings.
  • Scan Button: HP recommends that you first get comfortable with using the "Scan Picture" and "Scan Document" on-screen "buttons" in HP Solution Center as explained in the previous steps. By doing this, you determine the scan settings that you use most often, and then you can more easily set up the scan button on your printer. Important: Before you use the scan button on your printer, use HP Solution Center to create the settings for that button . For example, you need to decide whether you want a settings prompt screen and a scan preview for each scan. Also, you must create the list of "shortcuts" that you want to display on the front panel of the printer. To get started, click Settings , click Scan Settings , click Button Settings , and then click the tab for Front Panel Scan Buttons . Read through the options, and then create the settings that you want. NOTE: The steps to set up the scan button on your printer can vary depending on your printer model, and the version of software that is installed. For specific instructions, click the Help button on the home screen or settings screens in HP Solution Center.

Trying to scan: I can read on printer screen: LCD list need to be upgraded

    Hi,

When you try to scan using the product control panel, the message 'Error: LCD List needs to be upgraded ' displays on the computer. The 'LCD list' is the list of potential scan destinations that displays on the printer.

The solution to this issue is to re-establish the connection between the computer and the printer, and then set up the scan destination list again, if necessary. Try the following solutions in the order presented.

    Solution one: Restart and reset
Follow these steps to restart your computer and reset the printer.

    • Restart your computer.
    • With the product turned on, unplug the power cord from the back of the product.
    • Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.
    • Wait 15 seconds.
    • Reconnect the power cord to the product, and then reconnect the power cord to the electrical outlet.
    • If the product does not automatically turn on, press the Power button.
    • Wait a couple of minutes to make sure that the product is ready, and then try scanning again from the product control panel.
    • If the issue persists, or if you want to make changes to the scan destination list, continue to Solution two.

Solution Two: I will post it after confirm the issue still exists.

I have the officejet 6310 but cant use the scan feature, how do I get it to work

this is how you use the scanning features of your printer.
To use the scan features, the HP all-in-one and computer must be connected and turned on. The HP all-in-one software must also be installed and running on the computer prior to scanning. To verify that the HP all-in-one software is running, look for the HP all-in-one icon in the system tray at the lower-right side of the screen, near the time.
NOTE: Closing the HP Windows system tray icon can cause the HP all-in-one to lose some of its scan functionality and result in the No Connection error message. If this happens, you can restore full functionality by restarting the computer or by starting the HP Image Zone software.
For information about how to scan from the computer, and how to adjust, resize, rotate, crop, and sharpen scans, see the onscreen HP Image Zone Help that came with the software.
    Scan an original
Follow these steps if the HP all-in-one is directly connected to a computer through a USB cable.

    1.
Load the original face down on the right front corner of the glass.
    2.
In the Scan area, press Scan To . The Scan To menu appears, listing destinations, including applications, for anything that is scanned. The default destination is whichever one was selected the last time this menu was used.
    3.
To select an application to receive the scan, use the arrow buttons to highlight it and then press OK or Start Scan . A preview image of the scan appears in the HP Scan window on the computer.
    4.
Make any edits to the preview image in the HP Scan window. When finished, click Accept . The HP all-in-one sends the scan to the selected application.

Send a scan to an HP Instant Share destination
Follow these steps if the HP all-in-one is directly connected to a computer through a USB cable.

    1.
Load the original face down on the right-front corner of the glass or, if using the document feeder tray, in the document tray.
    2.
Press Scan To on the control panel of the HP all-in-one. The Scan To menu displays.
    3.
Use the Up Arrow and Down Arrow buttons to highlight HP Instant Share .
    4.
Press OK or Start Scan to select the destination and scan the image. The image is scanned and sent to the selected destination.
NOTE: If an original is detected in the automatic document feeder, one or more pages are scanned. If no original is detected in the automatic document feeder, a single page is scanned from the scanner bed.
NOTE: For Windows users, the HP Image Zone software opens on the computer, and the HP Instant Share tab displays. A thumbnail of the scanned image will display in the Selection Tray. For more information on the HP Image Zone, see the onscreen HP Image Zone Help that came with the software.

    Stop scanning
To stop scanning, press Cancel on the control panel.

    Scanning

My Photosmart 2575 v has worked fine as well for over a year and now it won't scan. I get the same message: "Refer to device documentation to troubleshoot". I ran all updates and they said I have them all and everything is working perfectly. It's not though. I still can't scan. I tried their work-around by opening paint and then acquring image from the scanner but that does not work either.
