This is not a motor problem this sounds like a broken belt. Take the model and make # to your local used vac store and they can help you with the belt. If you dont or cant install it yourself bring the whole maching to them and they will do it for next to nothing.

if you have a two motor vacuum, the brushroll motor may still be turning the brush roll, you will have to replace the suction motor.

Corner of the rug sucked in and the roller now does not spin

If you can't hear the motor running, look for a reset button which may have tripped. If the motor runs, remove the belt and look for a burned spot that might be preventing brush turning. Replace it if it is. Make sure that the wall outlet has power (check with a lamp). Hope this helps!

Carpet roller will not turn. Vacuum still sucks up dirt

You may need to replace the belt that drives the roller head. They wear out and break, or maybe it has just come loose. Also check for string and thread wound around the roller wheel axles, that is a common "culprit"

My vacuum has good suction but i can hardly push it across my carpet. any answers????

is your brush roller turning, that would cause it to be hard to push .the brush roller helps it walk across the floor.if your brush roller isn't turning then your belt is broke or the brush itself siezed up.unplug the vacuum and try to turn the brush roller .if it turns real free then your belt is broke.before you replace the belt always clean the motor shaft ,the old rubber from the old belt melts onto the motor shaft .if you don't clean it your new belt won't last very long.please leave feedback

Kenmore 116 bagless

hi from uk not conversant with your vac but if it has only one belt that drives the roller brush ? i would suspect that the actual roller has split in centre remove roller to check it? suggest you renew drive belt to provide extra life if it has not been replaced recently or at all?

Dyson DC07 Vaccum - brush will not turn

Hi.

Your Dyson has A clutch unit this engages the brush roller when you pull the handle back to vacuum.

Check the clutch control knob which is at the bottom left side of machine looking from the front.
It should rotate to drive position when handle is pulled back.

If it doesnt turn the knob by hand to drive & try the machine.

If you still have no brush rotation after doing all this then UNPLUG machine from mains supply.
Now lay machine on its side & remove the sole plate, This is the cover over the brush roller.
Turn the 3 plastic screws to unlock postition & lift sole plate off.

Now try to yurn brush roller using your hand. It should turn freely if it is difficult to turn look for any foriegn object obstructing the roller.

If no obstruction found then remove the brush roller from the machine & check the bearings in the ends of the brush roller one or both may be siezed up if they are then new brush roller will solve the problem.

If bearings are good then either the clutch is faulty or the second belt which goes clutch to motor has snapped & will need replacing.

It is difficult to fully explain the clutch removing procedure,
But there are service manuals available for these repairs at this site

Kenmore Progressive Model # 116 25914507

I had the same problem with my vacuum. I called in for technical service and was told to push the "reset button". It turns out that there is a small red button right next to the dirt indicator light. I pushed the button, plugged the vacuum back in and started it up and it worked like a charm! :) Hope this helps!

unfortunatly what happens is the dirt that gets sucked up goes over the moter and ruins the motor. the fact that it lasted this long is suprising. the motor should be right behind the bag the only one that ive seen that isnt there is a kirby! I hope this helped you!
