The laptop was not in use for about twenty minutes..then we are unable to see anything but off screen...although power lights lit

I have what sounds like the same problem, same laptop, same model. Screen will go black for no apparent reason but power lights stay on; it is not a sleep/hibernate function as it sometimes happens in the middle of doing something. Only option is to shut down & reboot.

Only constant I have noticed with mine, is that it only happens if the system had *been* in hibernate/sleep mode prior to the current session. If I begin using the laptop after it's been hibernating, it'll give me anywhere from 30 minutes to 8+ hours of use, before I get the black screen. If the laptop was properly shut down & powered off prior to use, I can use it all day, for any application and it will run with no problems.

Not a virus; scanned regularly with Avast Pro. Pretty sure it's not a software conflict because it's done this since it was brand-new & before I installed any major games, etc. Wish I knew what it was, any help is appreciated.

1.This is a screen sever problem, turn off the system and on it again. if it has boot to the window menu, then you right click the mouse. click the screen sever and change the munites upto 60munits and above.

2. click on start to settings click on control pannel, double click on power option and on power schemes you will see some option '"turn off the monitor in 5 munites etc. click on each of the blocks and change them to 'never'

Hi venji,
you question was still not clear. If I'm not wrong you mean to say after 20 mins your computer screen when black and you could not see anything, right ???
did you try to touch the power buttton to turn it on again maybe its in sleep mode.
Or you mean after 20 min..laptop still work but you hardly can see due to no light (back light )??
so I'm not really sure ..please give us more detail.

A125 monitor is dark

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LED flashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow my instructions to identify the fault and possible fix :-

The monitor on my Toshiba P25-S5093 does not have any display of any kind; all black. I have display using external monitor.

Does the display show anything before you enter windows? If yes, then press the key to transfer video back to your original screen once you enter windows. It should be the function key "Fn" + F5 - F8. looks for the icon which shows a monitor or says "CRT/LCD".
If it doesn't show anything before you enter windows I'm afraid your screen needs to be replaced. Good luck.
