This is our number one issue with gas fryers... Not being able to get the unit lite.... Normally our service techs tell our customers they are not holding down the pilot light button long enough. The sensors in there take some time to get hot enough to send a signal to the pilot telling it to light... If you need someone to walk you through it, call Ray at 888-542-5959, at Restaurant Equipment Outlet.
Normally, it's under the fryer, inside the door...The issue almost always is you have to press the button down long enough for the sensor to tell the fryer to light....There are 3 or 4 burners in the bottom of the frypot on top and under the fryer is the pilot to light these all up...Look for the gas valve, turn the gas valve to pilot, and press and hold it down, put flame to pilot and release button when flame is self standing... Then turn to on position. If you have other issues, call the Vulcan company themselves, and they will help you further.... Susan Restaurant Equipment Outlet, Cinc, Oh www.restaurantequipmentinc.com
When you turned on the thermostat you required more millivolts from the system and it failed. Low millivolts. That would tell you the pilot generator needs replacing. Make sure you have a good pilot flame hitting the pilot generator.
there is a small adjustment screw on the gas valve, turn it clockwise to increase pilot,if that does not work the vent cap on the gas regulator on the back of the unit could be stopped up,remove that cap ,clean out or replace unit can operate without it just fine.If you increase the pilot and it still wont stay lit replace the thermocouple
Does this fryer plug up to power of not?If it don't ,then thehi limit is out, need to reset it and try lightning it back. You will need to hold if for a minute. At this time if it don't stay lite, then replace the pilot thremcouplen.
This problem could be caused by a few different things. You should check the condition of your pilot and the thermocouple, if the pilot is weak due to being dirty you will not generate the optimum Millivolts to run the fryer, you may need to dissassemble and clean the pilot. The thermocouple needs to be correctly placed in the pilot assembly, if it has dropped down to where it is not in the flame it will not work correctly. You may need a new thermopile as it may not be generating millivolts as needed. Gas pressure can cause this as well, if the pilot goes out then the main burners come on you should check the gas pressure. One more thing to check is the hi-limit thermostat, if this is cutting out early your pilot will go out. Imperial uses a self-resetting limit, after a few minutes your fryer will relight and work until if cuts out again. If your fryer pilot stay on with the thermostat off for long periods of time and does not go out immediately when the burners come on and the pilot is clean, you may need a hi limit. This is a lot of info, I hope it helps.
Your question is posted under vulcan fryers but the comment refers to a grill. Either way, I think your problem is gas pressure and/or supply related. You may need a new regulator, you valve may not be open all the way or any quick couplings you may have are not coupled completely or are faulty. What is happening is there is enough pressure to keep the pilot going, but when the larger route for the burner gas is opened the gas is quickly used up without proper resupply. A regulator installed backwards can have this same effect. Hope this helps
low gas pressure to unit must check and see if gas valve in back of unit is fully on or same for regulator if there is one if the gas valve is open and the unit has a regulator ajust regulator regulator with center screw clockwise all the way down this will give you more pressure
