Question about Frigidaire 24 in. FDB635RF Built-in Dishwasher

Frigidaire FDB635RBB heat wash/heat rinse

If I press the heat wash/heat rise buttons it takes forever for the dishwasher to finish it's cycle. What is about the right amount of time for it to finish the cycle? I thought it had a bad heat element, but it gets hot when drying. Now I'm afraid to select either of the buttons and leave the house because it may still be running when I get back to the house.

2 hrs for a dw to run! It seems a bit too much for me. When it was brand new it did not take that long for the cycle to run with the hot wash/hot rinse option on. Any other ideas?

    Thanks!

Me too--I turn the thing on at 3 pm and it finishes at 5 pm? C'mon! Even with a "light load" selected and not-very-dirty (and not very many) dishes? I tried the heating-up the water first, and did not see a difference. This is a 2 yr old dishwasher, and it did not take so long before.
A neighbor suggested that I listen to it, and after the first cycle, open it, and if the dishes are clean enough, cut it short/cancel.
    Would that be ok?

The "Safe Temp for house hold hot water is between 120 7 125 degrees. plenty good for washing dishes the high temp wash and rinse I've been told was put on the DW's to lessen first year repair calls under warranty. Thus the manufacturer saves lost of $$$ on service calls that just need the hot water temp raised on your hot water tank. DO NOT EXCEED 125 DEGREES WATER TEMP. OR HAVE A PROFESSIONAL REPAIR PERSON CHECK FOR THE PROPER HOT WATER TEMP. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS WASH YOUR DISHES NOT USING THE HIGH TEMP,. SETTINGS BUT MAKE SURE YOU DO USE THE HIGH TEMP DRY CYCLE AND YOUR GOOD TO GO HEALTH WISE. This information was told to me by a repairman in the business for 28 years. We have done it and it works just fine.

Most DW today take a minimum of 90 minutes. Run the hot water from the sink until it gets hot, then start the DW, this will shorted the first wash cycle. It is not uncommon for the DW to run 2hrs or more based upon the water temperature entering the DW and the soil level of the items in the DW.

Hi
Open the door. Within 3 seconds press the following sequence --Try pressing normal wash, heated dry, normal wash, heated dry, normal wash, heated dry three times within 6 seconds and then press cancel to reset the dishwasher. If that doesn't help then try pressing Saini Rinse, Heated Dry, Saini Rinse, Heated Dry, Saini Rinse, Heated Dry or Saini Rinse, Air Dry, Saini Rinse, Air Dry, Saini Rinse, Air Dry 3 times in 6 seconds and then the Cancel Button. Close the door and press Cancel.
Blinking lights would stop and should be able to use your dishwasher normally. If the light is still blinking try and reset the power to the dishwasher and try again. If still the light is blinking then check for the connections on the keypad, it may be due to moisture or shorted connections on keypad. Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information.

The wash light and the start/cancel button keep flashing. How do I fix it? I have a Kitchen Aide dishwasher model KUDS02FR

Hi,

The clean light usually will blink due to a failure to heat the water properly. This dishwasher looks for a temperature rise of the water during a heating cycle if it fails to see this rise for multiple cycles it may shut down and blink the clean light.
There are a few things to check before resetting the control.

-The unit not being level so both door switches do not make contact
-
The sump plugged up so water is not pumping across the heater (see sump clean out below)

- Not enough water filling the dishwasher

- The heat element is not working

To reset the control use this key dance within 5 seconds press:HEATED DRY, NORMAL, HEATED DRY, NORMAL
This will cause you to enter the diagnosis cycle once this is finished or you hit cancel the control should be unlocked and ready to use.

Thank you !

When I set it to normal wash it takes more than a hour to finish I also press all the other settings dry heat, sanatizer. dont know if I'm doing something wrong

Every setting extends the wash time. You only need sanatizer if your doing a lot of baby bottles. The normal cycle with the strong dishwasher detergent will kill all bacteria anyway. The dry heat extends the time even longer and uses more hydro. Just open the door when the cycle is finished and they will dry on there own.
I hope this is of some help.

Runs forever! even on Normal wash...help !!

Check to make sure you heating element has not failed. Dishwashers of today heat the water periodically through out the cycle and if the element has failed. The heating delay light is the indicator that tells you that it is trying to heat the water.

The most obvious failure would be the mechanical timer that is behind / part of the knob used to select the cycle.

But, you may want to inspect the heating element in the sump area -- some dishwashers will wait (and wait) for the water temp to come up high.

Good Luck!

Problem starting fridgidaire model FDB1050REC2

hello kwill8
welcome to Fixya.

You said, You just installed the dishwasher and the only cycle it will go through is the rinse cycle. When You turn the dial to any of the other cycles:pots&pans, normal, light wash and upper rack, the start button as well as the heat dry button and the high temp button do not work. only button that will light up when pressed is the delay button. How can you fix this?

Is this your model FDB1050REC2This is a brand new model and you said you just installed it!
If it is brand new!
You do not have to fix it.
You have a full years warranty, parts and labor!let them fix it no cost to you.
The first thing they will do, . You can do your self!

Go to the breaker and turn it off for 5 minutes and then on again. This should reset the system and this usually is the end to most bad starts!

try it!

Dishwahser rinse cycle running for hours

Do you have high temp rinse or sanitize selected? This will pause the timer during the final rinse cycle to heat the water. The sensor might be bad. Try the quick cycle, I don't think this heats the water.

Stuck in rinse cycle

Mimmi, If the water isn't reaching temp this will happen. It sounds like a heating issue.
Guest,
The spray arm being blocked will not cause this. Again your machine isn't heating the water to temp.
