How do I change the batteries?

I haven't had much to do with mobility scooters yet apart from the original Braun Battricar which is positively ancient now.

The vehicle instruction book will tell you what you need to know about the batteries and lots more besides. It is worth getting one if your chair was bought privately. If it was bought from a dealer he is required to instruct purchasers about the safe operation and what maintenance might be required and hand over all documentation.

I am rather guessing but I believe the seat has quick release fittings and must be removed and then the plastic body panel either hinges upwards or must be removed to access the batteries and the internal mechanics.

Dis you remove the batteries? Sometimes you have to pull straight up hard to get it to release. Have you watched the video on Youtube about taking it apart? I dont think it will come apart without the batteries removed. That is the only thing I can think of why it will not come apart.

Spitfire 1410 manual states there are two fuses - one in battery box & one inside operation panel. I don't see one inside operation panel, after taking it apart. Where can I view a diagram

Try under your feet! Remove the rubber mat - treat the rubber lugs carefully as they can be damaged and very difficult to replace. Remove the hatch, and under it you may well find the fuse box. Treat with great care, do not short the batteries or give yourself a nasty electric shock.

Trying to open the battery and just can't get it open. Can you tell me how many screws or where they are please? We're trying to figure out what size battery we need, got two different answers. Ordered...

The battery box for this scooter is easily taken apart to replace the batteries. Remove the battery box form the scooter and turn it upside down. There are 8 screws which hold the 2 halves of the battery box together. The screws require a long shaft Phillips #1 screwdriver to remove because they are at the bottom off long plastic round recesses in the battery box. Don't forget the 8 lock washers under the screw heads.
This scooter takes 2 batteries rated at 12 AH. The best type are AGM batteries (advanced glass mat). When you have the battery box apart, turn it right side up and pry the batteries off the velcro. Note which terminals are connected to red (+) and black (-) on each battery, The batteries and the terminals will be marked. Re-use the velcro by putting it on the new batteries to keep them secure in the box. Connect the four fast tab terminals to the batteries and push down on the batteries to get them to stick to the velcro. Turn the box over and install 8 screws making sure a lock-washer is under the screw head. Using your long screwdriver tighten securely. Plug in and test scooter and charging of the new batteries. Hope this helps.

8 screws 12 or 17 amp AGM

Battery won't hold a charge - go-go elite travellor scooter battery charged overnight but won't hold charge.

We have had problems with scooter batteries from time to time and the repair man said to take apart the battery case and disconnect the batteries and use a car charger. I put the two battery in parallel and used a amp battery charger. This worked fine.
Don't run your scooter batteries all the way down when using the Go Go as the scooter charger won't always bring them up to full charge and you may have repeat this. Also running the batteries all the way down shortens there life.

Where and how do I replace my battery for my pride gogo ultra travel scooter

Do not use batteries with different amp-hour (Ah) capacities. Do not mix old and new batteries. Always replace both batteries at the same time.

Battery posts, terminals, and related accessories contain lead and lead compounds. Wear goggles and gloves when handling batteries and wash hands after handling.

WARNING! Always use two batteries of the exact same type, chemistry, and amp-hour (Ah) capacity. Use 12 Volt deep cycle batteries.

1.Remove the battery pack from the Travel Scooter.
2.Carefully turn the pack upside down.
3.Remove the eight (8) screws from the perimeter of the battery pack.
4.Carefully turn the pack right side up and remove the lid.

5.Disconnect the black (-) and red (+) battery cables from the battery terminals.
6.Remove the old battery.
7.Place a new battery in the battery pack.
8.Connect the red battery cable to the positive (+) battery terminal.
9.Connect the black battery cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
10.Position the lid back onto the battery pack ensuring all wires are inside the pack so they don’t become pinched.
11.Carefully turn the pack upside down.
12.Reinstall all screws and tighten.
13.Charge the new batteries for 8-14 hrs before the first use.
I hope this helps and good luck!

Hi Rosemary. The best way is to remove the seat by releasing the lever to turn it slightly, then lifting it straight up and off.
Next take off the battery cover, disconnect the batteries and remove them from the scooter. This will make the machine much lighter and easier to lift or push up a ramp.
Next release the steering column and fold down towards the rear. Place a piece of packaging or similar under it, so that it doesn't rub on the body panels and scuff the paint.
Good luck. Neil.
