Question about Hotpoint Refrigerators

1 Answer

My Hotpoint FFS70N refridgerator (out of guarantee) is malfunctioning. Both the upper fridge cabinet and the freezer cabinet are at room temperature despite the temperature settings (at cold). There is power to the refridgerator (the lights on the front are on, including the "too warm" light) but I can't hear any sound from the motor. As far as we know, there is sufficient ventilation to the back of the refridgerator. Could you advise me on the best course of action please?

Hi and Welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly.

There are many things that can cause your existing symptoms.

1. The Unit is controlled by an all-in-one control board that often is the main failure.
This l;ink is used as an example but is the control board for your unit:

2. The PTC Relay Device (Danfoss)
Part Link no picture: ptc
-device.html">http://www.espares.co.uk/part/fridges-and-freezers/indesit/p/1084/805/0/0/808237/refrigerator-ptc-device.html

3. The run capacitor: (Again no picture) 4 uf cap
http://www.espares.co.uk/part/fridges-and-freezers/indesit/p/1084/805/0/0/807896/run-capacitor-4uf.html

4. The Thermistor PN 2601683 (not sure about part number as many conflicts with cross ref)

5. The actual compressor (1/5 hp) PN 2603850 or Type TWB1374MK

Any of the above can cause your problem. Check the compressor. If it is VERY hot to the touch unplug the unit for 30 minutes and then plug it in again.
If the compressor is cold the only thing you can do is start troubleshooting with the units wiring diagram and a meter.

I wish I could say _______ is causing your problem. Without testing components and knowing they are bad I can not say order _____ part. If your good with a meter and can locate the units tech sheet / wiring diagram you can isolate the failed part. Otherwise all I can say is what can cause your symptom as listed above.

I bought a hisense fridge a month ago, it was Ok when we connected just for couple of days, I turned the temperature up a bit so the freezer can be colder, but now

Hisense is a company that makes cheap budget end televisions. Sounds like the defrost timer may have failed. The cold is created at the rear of the freezer and cold air is vented to the fridge. Have it looked at under warranty.

What setting must my fridge and freezer be at. Thanks

RFA70 settings Controlling the Temperature of the Fridge Compartment The left hand control wheel on the front panel adjusts the internal fridge compartment temperature. The internal temperature should be 5?C or colder, although some sections such as the salad bin will be slightly warmer. The setting of the control wheel will depend on the location of the fridge freezer, the room temperature and how often the door is opened. The normal set point (marked by a 3 on the dial) is usually suitable. If you need to adjust the temperature turn the control wheel using a coin to avoid damage: Clockwise (higher number) - Colder Anti-clockwise (lower number) - Warmer

I just need instructions on how to set the temperature on my mistral fridge freezeer, please

please be aware that the temperature for the freezer compartment cannot be changed, this is pre set at the time of manufacture, only the fridge can be altered. The main reason for problems with zoned temperatures are to do with the compressor over heating. Unfortunately Hotpoint designed the compressor to switch itself off if the ambient (room) temperature exceeds a pre set figure. This in turn will obviously then lead to an increase in the temperatures of your fridge and freezer. I'm afraid the only solution to this problem is to relocate the whole unit to somewhere much cooler, especially during the hotter weather. This should in time sort the problem out. Also double check that the grill at the very bottom on the front, is not blocked up with dust etc.

Errorcode EE in display. Whats wrong?

E1 - Freezer thermistor open circuit.
E2 - Freezer thermistor short circuit.
E3 - Fridge thermistor open circuit.
E4 - Fridge thermistor short circuit.
E7 - Evaporator thermistor open circuit.
E8 - Evaporator thermistor short circuit.
E9 - Temperature set switch open circuit
EA - No feedback from Baffle
EB - Fridge Baffle motor operating continuously
EE - Defrost time out

This was the only code listing with an EE error code - which is a Hotpoint - so if your's isn't a Hotpoint it is probably incorrect.

If you do have a Hotpoint Refrigerator then either the defrost timer is not functioning correctly or your heater element is malfunctioning.

Freezer in nice and cold but refridgerator is not

due to lots of moisture in the air or high humidity it creates extra frost in the freezing unit this creates blockage in the air flow once the ice crystals build up. the freezer is what keeps the fridge at the normal temperature if the air flow between the two are blocked in the ducting then the fridge temperature will rise the best way to solve this is to open the freezer take out the 4 screws in the back panel tilt the panel forward and blow it with a blow dryer till the ice chunk has melted its a good idea to use a towel and on the top self of the fridge to obsorb excess water this can be kinda messy. or you can unplug your fridge for about 6 or so hours. good luck hope i helped. :)

Will my mothers new fridge freezer work out in the garage

This is from the hotpoint web site.

If the room temperature drops below 14°C for an
extended period of time, the ideal temperature will not
be reached in the freezer compartment and food
preservation will be reduced.

You can read the manual here if it will help you.

You have a clogged defrost drain tube. best way is to thaw unit out. Your vents are being blocked so no air flow is pushed down.
