My 4 month old Acer Aspire 5720Z Notebook screen started to flicker yesterday and then when blank. When I adjusted the screen/lid slightly it would flicker and after a number of tries I got the screen back. I used it for over an hour and the OS works fine. I did a virus scan etc. and found no other problems. Today the same thing. (Using it right now) What's wrong with it? Is there something loose or is it a major problem??? I have no time to ship it across Canada to Acer for warranty -- this will take weeks!!!PLEASE HELP!!!
I have the same problem. It happened to me about half a year ago and reinstalling the OS solved it. So it's by no chance a hardware problem. I have a Acer TravelMate 6291. It must be some kind of a software problem, but don't know which one :-(
If you HAVE any experience with computer hardware you can open it and check the data and power cables that connect to motherboard that they have not come loose or damaged and thus short circuiting your lcd, but you must be aware that unless you have extensive experience you will probably be unable to open your machine in such a way that you do not forfeit your warranty. but the problem is definitely with the lcd connection to the mainboard. If you arent sure send it to Acer to be safe. thanks
In most cases like that, where we have screen flickering, first look at the graphics card maybe the signal flex from the back of the screen is well fixed on the motherboard.then if it is well fixed on the board you will need to look at the signal board at the back of the screen maybe it is well fixed if it is not well fixed then fix it properly to solve ur problem then if the problem still persist then u will need to disable the VGA in device manager.to get to device manager u will need to open my computer and after that, u can right-click on it and then click on propertise then click on hardware and then click on device manager where u can disable the VGA.

My Acer Aspire 4315 does the same thing. The screen flickers, and then
it goes completely blank white. If I hit Ctrl + Alt + F11 it comes
back, but it's only a temporary fix. Also, if it helps at all in
answering my problem: If I attach an additional monitor to my computer,
it does not go blank when the laptop screen does.
I have the same problem with an Extensa 5630 and I dual boot Windows Vista and Ubuntu 8.10 and happens with OSes , it seems more a hardware problem.
