My Hitachi Simpledrive Mini 250 suddenly quit....when I lookein the device manager it said Code 10, would not start????

Sounds like a disk error and it cant read the start of the drive. If it still detects it you might be able to repair it with a partition recovery or partition repair tool available online.

I connect hitachi hts424040m9at00 40GB HDD with usb case but it not working plz help give me driver for xp

I assume this is an internal hard drive. If it is not being detected by windows, you need to go to disk management. refer to this link to learn more about disk management :
When you are in the disk management menu, you need to create a partition and format this partition (if the disk is new). If the disk already has data in it, then disk management will make Windows recognize the drive.

I can't find my Hitachi 250 external HDD in my computer.Although i can see it on the Devices and Printers, but also there is no option of open it or do anything on it. Goodluck

Your external hard drive has no partitions so Windows has no drive to mount. Follow these steps to create and format a partition for your external hard drive.

1. Press Win+R to open the Run command.
2. Type "Control" into the dialog box.
3. Double-click Administrative Tools.
4. Double-click Computer Management.
5. Select Disk Management under Storage.
6. Find the 250 GB External Hard drive in the right pane.
7. Right click on the drive and select "Create new partition".
8. After the partition is created you will need to format the partition.
9. Format the partition as NTFS unless you plan on booting off the hard drive, in which case format the partition as FAT32. You can also create multiple partitions if you want.
10. Enter My Computer and you will now see your external hdd.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Hi, my laptop stopped recognizing my HITACHI HTS541612J9SA00. on device manager i get two general storage devices, and their properties say that they're both working properly plus they're both located on...

This sounds like a single drive with multiple partitions that's working properly. Just because it doesn't identify the device by name doesn't mean its stopped working. Have you lost drive letters? Also, if it stopped working then you wouldn't be able to boot Windows unless you have multiple drives with some type of redundancy like a RAID array that's mirrored. : ) You can right click My Computer or just Computer IIRC in the later OSs and Manage to bring up your management console. Go to Hard Disk management and check what's active and if you have any drives/partitions that haven't been assigned a letter. This is the place to tell you more about your drives than you probably knew was possible. Good luck!

External 500gb hard drive not readable

Check the partition size in Disk Management (if running Win7 - download a free Partition Manager if not) and see if the system is seeing the partition correctly. Seagate has recovery software available on their website but you may just have to repartition and reformat.

I can't see the hd symbol. I have a brand new external 1TB hard disk. Windows xp recognizes the device but it doesn't show the system symbol, thus I can't write on it.

Check the Disk Management console to see if the hard disk is partitioned and formatted.
Right-click My Computer and select Manage in the popup menu.

Hitachi HDP725032GLAT80 hard drive

I am guessing you have not partitioned the drive yet. If you are using XP do this:

Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative tools > Computer Management.

Alternatively, right click My computer and select Manage.

Near the bottom on the left is Disk Management. Click on and view your drives on the right.

If you can see your new drive there, right click on it and partition it. Next format it and you should be good to go.

Please rate this solution.
