1. remove the base palte by lifting the end opposite to the electric cord.
2. Loosen the bottom power outled slider, without removing it fully
3. unclip the curved plastic retainer in the front and unscrew philips head screw.
4. Work around the edges of the two halves until it comes apart and you are able to free the slider from its return spring.

And see pictures here at the bottom

I have a hl200 mixer that wont start. What do I check

The power supply, like mains, plug and cable. then the on of switch or button. To check the motor, you have to open it, but I think you better leave that to a tech.

Have a PVi8B mixer that has stopped working suddenly. Doesn't do anything when you flip the switch to "ON" are there fuses that could be the problem?

Does the blue power light come on when you switch it on? There is a 5amp fuse in the supply cable.Open the wall socket plug of the supply cable (unplugged of coarse) and check fuse and connections. With a multimeter check continuity of the three wires from the plug to the other end of the cable. If this is all good then you have an internal fault. There are fuses internally as well but this should be refered to a qualified technician.

Hobart k45 won't run

the K45 was introduced in 1962 and ran until 1978 when the K45SS was introduced. You have an open circuit inside, you need to open the machine from the rear and look to the power cord connections. make sure that the wires are connected and none are floating loose. the next step would be to replace the speed control switch. then check your carbon brushes if either one of the brushes are down to the nubs then it would cause a short when you turned it on, if that is the case then be glad that you have breakers and not fuses because you would have fried your motor. the speed control switch has no power attached to it. ifg the problem still exist after checking power cord, speed control plate and brushes then you have a fried armature or stator either can short the system if they have a burned wire inside especially the stator.
let us know how you fare on this after you check out the first easy steps, we can help with the harder fix also.

Mixer is dead

If this is being used in a commercial setting (I presume it is as it's a D300) the first things I would check is

1 outlet / breaker box /main electric panel
2 Cable from outlet to mixer if the outlet is hot
3 Timer Start Stop switch
4 Motor capacitor
5 Motor (this is ugly as it has a number of electric parts that could have gone bad)

That's the best I can do without further clarification. How did you find it was dead? Did it die while it was in use? Did it make any strange noises? Did it smoke? Do you get any response at all when you turn it on? My first reaction if the cord and outlet are good then I would be looking to the On/Off Timer control switch. It is the most logical if the mixer has not had any other instances of smoking lagging struggling with mixes or advance warning of a problem. It is the most likely answer that a contact is not working. Press all switches and buttons to see if any feel stuck in place. It may be that you only need to open the switch panel and clean out the flour and other gunk. I hope this helps, if so let us know we love hearing from you about a good solution.

On off switch pops on with slighest touch, passes lowest speed, goes to 3 or 4,assume i need new switch, wonder how difficult it is to replace? thanks Kent

I had the same problem. I fixed it by cleaning the switch and the slot that it slides in. The slot has little notches in it and the switch has a little tab on the bottom of it. If crud either gets in the little notches or around the tab then it won't stick in position. I think you could pretty much get it fixed by scraping the crud out with a toothpick. It's also possible that the screw inside the machine that the switch pivots on has come loose, but you have to take the whole thing apart for that one.

How to open it to change the electric cable ?

I'm looking myself for a guide to open it fully, but I can at least answer your question partly. Maybe you can get on from there.

When you look at the front side of the mixer(the side opposite to the cable), there's a slim oval lid with rounded ends. Push a small flat sdcrewdriver under that lid until it pops out, revealing a screw. Remove the screw.

The rest of the enclosure seems to be held together by several hidden plastic clips. Use a pocket knife with a thin blade and push it carefully between the halves of the case. Work your way from the screw to the top and bottom side, levering the halves apart step by step. Do not use too much force!

I'm stuck at the back of the case where the rubber ring is. I can't get this part open., but it's a start

How to disassemble Black & Decker MX50 PowerPro Mixer

You can remove the handle-back by gently prying the rear clips down and away. But the problem is the power boost button; it has a fork that goes down the left side and snaps over a micro-switch. You need to get that off since there is not room for all 3 buttons (eject, variable speed, and boost) to slide through the handle. A small probe inserted from the top and pushing on the left side to the rear might do it. Or just pry the boost switch upwards; that's how I got mine apart. My problem was the boost microswitch was bad and provided a poor connection. As a result, the beater only ran intermittently on regular switch positions. I solved it by bypassing the boost micro switch. The beater now only runs on the regular speeds but that's fine by me.

Good luck!

Bottom Slide Cover (Part 2a in the manual)

See the description for the speed problem and repositioning of the slidere at this link. The slider should snap back in place easily if everything is ok. The slider also operates a switch inside the mixer. This switch is intended to only allow you to run on full power when using the hand blender. You may need to open up the mixer to check this switch is not stuck in the activated position permanently. Otherwise consider the description of the speed problem in the link.
