Letters are missing. Where I should have contacts messages etc I now only have 1 or 2 letters. Cannot read any messages. Every entry in the phone is now missing letters and some are lower case and some upper.

Take the phone to a mobile service center and have them reflash the phone for you, or have it service.

okay going to have a bash at solving this but it's a little hard based on your description. I'm guessing this has Mavricks operating system installed.

  1. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Dictation & Speech, then click Text to Speech.
  2. Select the "Speak selected text when the key is pressed" checkbox. By default, speaking is enabled when you press Option-Esc. To choose a different key, click Change Key, press one or more modifier keys (Command, Shift, Option, or Control) together with another key, then click OK.

  3. To have your Mac start speaking, press the specified key. To stop the speaking, press the key again. If text is selected when you press the key, the selected text is spoken. Otherwise, available text items in the current window are spoken; for example, if Mail is the current window, an email message is read. If no text items are available, you hear a beep.
So based on what you have described you have already found this option and set the change key to "command" + "e"
Try rebooting then going to the text to speech option and attempt to set the key combination you want it to be. If this fails to change then try resetting the P-ram which should set it back to the default.

Can't disable predictive text

I would assume that there is a menu or options bar in your text options pre menu. for example, when you select messages in your main menu, you should have an option to send new mwssage, veiw sent, (outbox inbox etc. and if you hit the left toggle key it should bring you to A settings menu for your messages and you should have a few options that arent in the main settings menu, you should be able to easily find an option to remove that pesky text prediction.

Whenever i scan to pdf, the output of images/graphics on the documents are not properly displayed. They are usually displayed as some funny-looking characters. for example, when i scanned a documents with...

You are scanning the pages in OCR (Optical Character Recognition) mode. This allows scanned text to be converted to (editable) text, and is more useful when scanning to a Word document for example.

If you just want to scan a page and archive it, look for a standard (non-OCR) scanning option, and specify PDF as the output format. If it's not available, you can just as well keep the pages in TIFF format, which also allows for multiple pages.
Also, if you have MS Office, there's MS Document Imaging tool included, that allows you to scan to MDI multi-page documents.

If however you want the page OCRed, I don't know which software is included with your scanner, but generally you must investigate the OCR settings to find an option to scan a page with text and images, instead of text only.
Some OCRs require you to select areas that contain text, leaving the rest as pictures, other do it automatically.
If you cannot make friends with your software that's bundled with the device, I would suggest looking for FineReader. Even an older version of FineReader is far superior to any other OCR software I've seen.
Good luck

Samsung intensity reads texts outloud

You can disable the text message reading function by pressing the Menu button (the center OK button), going to Settings & Tools, select #6 - Phone Settings, and then #3 - Voice Command Settings. The first option is Text Message Readout -- you can turn it off and then hit OK to save the changes.

Printed font size too small

Most web browsers have an option to change the text size on the page you are viewing. In IE8 it is accessible through the Page menu, Text Size. It defaults to Medium, and there are 2 smaller sizes and 2 larger sizes available.

My texting on a weird setting please read!

did you try going into options in the messaging menu. you should be able to turn off the predictive txting. otherwise look through your settings. Honestly you may have to just play around with it for a bit to find the setting. I had this issue with my Razor VE20 I ended up getting rid of it for a LG. Best of luck.
