Question about ASUS P5NSLI (0610839134670) Motherboard

1 Answer

I've just assembled a desktop pc with the following components: ASUS P5NSLI motherboard; 2.9 gh Intel Core 2 Duo cpu (E7500); 9500GT 1GB Biostar video card; 2 modules RAM at 2GB each module for a total of 4GB memory (Kingston) and 500 watts power supply. For the first few tries of opening the pc, it booted and beeped and i was able to open the cmos setup. However as I was loading the OS - Windows Vista, it stopped and shut off. I tried again to boot open several times but to no avail as if it went dead. I tried to remove the components and replaced again but still no sign of booting up. How could you helped me solve this problem? Thanks.

One bad/faulty lead can cause a computer with lots of problems
replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA and the ones that attach from your motherboard to hard drive
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they are probably old and faulty ?
hope this helps

HI,

The only Thing To Do, is view both Motherboards, user Manuals.
To see The boards CPU Support List.
It could be to do with, certain Motherboards Supporting, certain CPUs.
I.e a 533mhz cpu, would not run on a Motherboard that supports 400mhz. The Systems Bios, May cause Other Problems.
If your getting a Black Screen, is it a possible Graphics/Ram Problem, Rather Than The CPU ??

No video on monitor ?

Try testing the hardware connections. Often it's as simple as a backwards IDE cable for the hard drives/cdroms, but if that isn't the case, start from nothing. Remove one of the two RAM sticks and all devices, (drives, CD-roms, anything that isn't needed to boot)
Let me know what this turns up.

Your motherboard is for a AMD processor not Intel. You need a motherboard for a Intel processor before you can proceed. They are so different. Core Duo chips don't even use pins.

Trobble booting

my guess is that your cpu or other major component fried. the same thing happened to me. check for proper connections, thermal grease properly applied, ect. there are many many problems that cause this however. try listening for beeps and matching them on a "beep chart". you can find them on the internet. good luck and hopefully this helps. im assuming you recently obtained the parts, so if any parts are broken you can simply return/exchange. nice build btw.
