Is this the desktop you are speaking of?

No, it's once I get on my home page. But, thank you. I did fix it. Found a place in 'View" where I could change the "ZOOM". Somehow it was set on 150 percent. I put it back to 100 and everything is fine. Thanks a bunch for your concern.

When i turned on my laptop, the window did not start successfully. When start normally, it failed again.

Welcome to Fixya

If the screen is looping back with the same mesage then there is a huge possibility that the windows boot manager is alrady corrupted. This could be caused by several issues e.g recent software installation, hardware changes, data corruption or virus issue. Try to boot the computer using safe mode and runs system restore. Restore the computer back from the date where it is working fine. Turn off the computer and turn it back on. Keep on tapping F8 the moment you press the power button. Select safe mode, if same thing will happen after selecting safe mode then it means that there is no wat for us to restore the computer other than to use the recovery disk of the computer and restore the computer to the factory state.

Please let me know if you have further questions.

Thank you for using Fixya!

It turns on and everything but the screen just stay black..............can anyone help me

The first thing to try is to plug in an external monitor to the laptop while the laptop is off, then turn it on and see if the screen comes on. If the screen comes on and the laptop boots like normal then your LCD is bad, if the screen never comes up and you still think your laptop is booting in the background (for instance you can hear the start up sound and see the hard drive working during boot) then the video card on the laptop will be bad.

If the laptop only seems to turn on, but it appears there is no sign of it booting then there will be a different issue. At that point the first thing to do is remove anything that is not needed to boot the laptop. Remove the hard drive, the cd-rom drive and any extra memory trying the memory one at a time if there is more then one. All of these should be easy to remove and under access panels on the bottom of the laptop. Once these are removed try to boot the laptop, if you see the screen come on then that means something you removed is bad, you can put everything back one at a time trying the laptop after each thing you put back until you find the culprit. However if the laptop still will not boot then either the memory or the motherboard is bad.

When i turn on my laptop everything on the screen goes big

Do you mean the icons are huge?
If so the screen resolution is set to low eg, 640 X 480
To change the screen resoultion go to and click on Start - Control Panel - Display - Settings tab and move the slider on the Screen resolution to the right until 1024 by 768 then click OK
If this is not suitable change the Screen resolution higher or lower to suit your requirements.

Freezes evry once in awhile...don't know why or how to fix??help!:)

Lockups are caused by one of 3 things. Malware *viruses*, Bad/Missing Drivers, or heat. Run an updated virus scan first, then check your drivers, make sure everything is new. If it's not one of those, then heat build up is causing the issue. Have a tech look at the unit.

Everything comes on huge.

It might be your setting for display is at the minimum. Just set in slowly for higher setting until you got what that fits for you. On desktop(windows) right click your mouse, then choose personalize/properties, then select display properties. Adjust the setting according to your taste. Also adjust it on your monitor setting if it needs help.

Hope this one help

My presario 500 wont even turn on

try running it in safemode and if you have recently added any new hardware or software that may be causing your problem uninstall it while you are in safemode.

As the computer boots press F8 to enter safe mode. If this is successful then everything on the screen will look big, ignore that for now. uninstall anything that may be causing the problem. If you have not loaded anything lately, then while in safe mode restore your computer to an earlier date when you know that everything was working okay.

You can do this by going to Start>all programs>accessories>system tools>system restore. Then choose a date when you know that things were okay and press restore. You computer will restore to the date you selected and it will reboot. If asked to whether you want to start windows normally after the boot then select that option.

I hope this helps
