Hello

Check power from the t-stat to the motor or relay depending on how yours is configured for control voltage. If power is present at the motor. You will need a meter that can read amperage, take a ampdraw on the leads of the motor. See what this reading is, on the motor there should be a rating for LRA (locked rotor amps) if the amp draw exceeds this reading your motor is bad. You may also have a split phase capacitor installed which helps start the motor is so and you have a meter that reads in micro farads you could check the capacitor. the symbol for mico farads looks like a uf. Just make sure you discharge the capacitor to ground with a screw driver or insulated tool, if not it will shock you severly. Another thing you might look for is a reset button on the motor. Most likely this will be a red button somewhere near the bottom side of the motor.

Sounds like you did a good job checking the obvious areas. The next steps are to check the cooling temp sensor and the fan switch. Use a multimeter to check resistance at both cold and hot temps. If the switch is open at COLD, it should close when HOT in order to activate the fan. If it remains open all the time, you need to replace the switch. You can bench test the switch rather than trying to test it mounted in the engine.

My 1984 Buick regal back lights stop working, any suggestions on wht to and where to check?

Hello ojuice44,

If the bulb are good the next place to look is to check the fuses, if your turn signals work the fuse will be good. The fuse for the back-up lights is the same one for the turn signal..

After that there are two areas to check.

First, check for power and ground at the bulb sockets if ground is good and no power go to next step. If no ground repair the ground circuit ( See diagram below).

Second, check for power to the gear selector switch. Check for power with the key on and engine off going into the switch on the dark blue wire (See diagram below) if no power repair that circuit. If there is power there, then with the key on and engine off put the gear selector in reverse and check for power at the light green wire if there is power there the switch is good if no power replace the switch. If you do have power at the light green wire coming out of the switch repair the light green circuit from there to the taillights.

I hope this helps.

93 century cooling fan dose not run

First check fan fuse and relayand switch. You can change relay with another with the same part number to see if that relay is bad. Then check power to and from fan switch if switch has power coming in and not going out then your switch is bad. Replace switch. If fuse and relay are good check for power at the fan and if you have power at the fan then that means that your fan motor is bad,Replace fan motor.HOPE THIS HELPS!!!

No air blows out vents how do i fix?

Sounds like the indoor fan isn't running.First go to the thermostat and take the fan switch from auto to on. If there are no problems with the fan it should run. Next check your circuit breakers. If they are on, then turn off the power to the indoor unit and spin the fan by hand to make sure it spins freely. If it doesn't then you probably need a new fan motor. Next check the capacitor for the fan. They are usually attached to the fan on indoor units. If the capacitor looks swollen then it is bad or you can check it with a multimeter. If everything mentioned is good and the fan still isn't running, check to see if the fan is connected to a circuit board. If it is, set the thermostat to make the air come on and check for power where the fan is connected to the circuit board. Let me know what you find if the fan still isn't running.

Sounds like compressor is running but nothing coming out of the vents, not blowing any air at all

Set the thermostat so the a/c comes on. Next check you indoor fan to see if it is running. If it is check you air filter and replace if necessary. If it isn't then check the breaker for the indoor unit. If you have power to the unit then you need to check some electrical components so cut the power off. See if you can turn the indoor fan by hand, it should turn freely. Next check the capacitor. You will need a multimeter with the capacitor check function. If the capacitor is bad replace with one of the same rating. If it's good then check the fan motor windings with an ohmmeter. Let me know what you find or if you have any questions and we can go from there.

Fan want come on

No power going to fan motor? Next step is to check the switch in the control. See if power is coming to it.
Then trace the power through the other side of the switch, (Motor side)
See if the switch is good. (Or do a continuity test with the OHM's side of your multimeter for the switch)

No Electrical Power to Heater Blower

First thing to check would be the fan speed resister, fan(blower-motor)relays, and possibly a bad ground. Start at switch on the dash and go to the relays and resister next.
