Try getting a booster. They cost about 15 bucks at Radio Shack. Also, if you connect your cable TV through the VCR make sure it's on the right channel combo: some of them call for ch. 3 or 4 setting on the TV and the VCR set to 60 - there are a number of different combos, so can't tell unless you check your mfr specs.

You can also have your cable company come out and check their line: you'd be surprised how many problems are caused by the way they wired their line in.

Good luck!

We lost sound on our Sansui TVD2798 even though the speakers work. Mute button has no effect. Using the remote, we can't find any option for sound off or on.

There usually is an option for turning off the internal speakers as part of the TV setup routine...BUT you may have had a failure of the internal audio in your TV. Your Zenith remote might have a MUTE button which turns off TV sound and displays a mute message or the MUTE buttton might have been pressed accidentally and has become stuck

How do I hook up dvd player

It should hook up like a regular VCR does. A short cable from the OUT on the back of the dvd player to the cable hookup on the back of the tv.

You can also use audio/video wires (3 wire cable). Somewhat same method...connect 3 wires to audio/video OUT of the dvd player to COMPONENT section on the back of the tv. Should be color coded to match colors on the 3 wires.

Hope this helps some. It is difficult to explain. Good luck!

Getting the VCR to play through the old Philips TV

Hi,
Looks as if you were using the AV cable to connect the VCR to TV. The three colored cables should be connected in the following order:
Yellow: From VCR Video out to TV Video In
Red : VCR Audio out (right) to TV audio in (right)
White: From VCR Audio out (left) to TV audio in (left)

Also check the color on the sockets on TV and VCR and match accordingly.

Hope this solves your problem. Thanks

Sanyo TV

Hi,

If I understand your posting/description right, you have:
1, a Sanyo TV with only 1 video input;
2. you have a DVD player with only video output; and
3. you have a VCR (which I will assume to be with both video input and output).

Your query, if I may clarify, is how to hook them up so that you need not connect/disconnect any video cable when you want to switch video source from either DVD or VCR.

If that is what you want, then connect:
a. audio/video OUT of your DVD to audio/video IN of the VCR;
b. audio/video OUT of your VCR to audio/video IN of the TV.

The above described connection would allow you to:
i. watch DVD movies on your TV (your VCR must be powered ON and set to Video INput, your TV must be powered ON & set to Video INput);
ii. watch tape movies from your VCR without disconnecting/connecting cables.

Additionally, this arrangement would allow you to record DVD movies in your VCR. Further, connecting your cable/aerial to the RF INput of your VCR would allow you to do the same with a TV/Cable program.

Incidentally, if one of your units (TV, VCR, DVD) would only have a single audio input, it is still possible since some models uses the white audio RCA connector as either left or mono, the red is right. You can also use a 2 female RCA to 1 RCA male adapter as shown below to joint the red/white audio.

Hope this be of some idea/help. Pls post back how things turned out or should you require additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Using a VCR with it.

Hi, Based on your post/description, a common installation/connection would be: 1. Ant/Cable in to the RF INput of the VCR (this is assuming that your cable TV is cable/F output and not the audio/video RCA output); 2. A short RG59 cable with F connectors at both ends should connect RF OUT of VCR to ANT/CABLE IN of TV. 3. With the VCR off, the cable would connect automatically to the TV and channel selection is thru your TV. 4. With the VCR on, The TV must be set to either 3 or 4, channel selection may be done on the VCR, TV programs can be recorded, video tapes can be played. A variation: Another would be to use the Audio/Video OUTput of the VCR to the Audio/Video INput of the TV (assuming it's got one). The TV must be set to Video to watch cable, VCR. Channel selection would be thru the VCR. Hope this be of some idea/help. Post back should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards.
