Wont stay running

You should only use choke until you get a turn over. After that, turn off choke and it should start right up.

Chainsaw will not start

1. make sure you have full tank of proper fuel mixture.
2. prime carb. if applicable
3. set choke to full
4. pull starting cord till it fires
5. place choke to one half full
6. pull starting cord till it runs, then as the engine heats reduce choke to full open.

My chainsaw won't run without full choke on and

Fuel starvation, start by replacing the fuel filter in the tank, check the fuel hoses for leaks up to the carb.

Homelite mighty lite 26bv gas Blower won't run full speed or only in Full Choke

Sounds like a lean condition. Rebuild carb, replace fuel lines and fuel filter and you should be ready to blow the leaves.

My chainsaw starts with choke when choke is off and i press trigger it just dies like its getting no fuel

Check the fuel filter, muffler, and air cleaner for plugging. Check the condition of the fuel lines for hardness, splitting, end rot, or kinking. Make sure the carburetor fasteners are tight. If no help, remove the lower carburetor chamber cover and examine the diaphragm and fuel metering valve that it controls. The diaphragm should not be hard, cracked or have any holes. The fuel valve has a rubber tip that may have deteriorated. If looks ok, then turn both L and H jet needles CW to stops (lightly), then back out CCW 1-1/2 turns each. Engine should start and run with these basic settings. Allow the engine to warm up, then pull the throttle full on. Adjust H needle CW until the engine speeds up somewhat, but is 4-stroking. Correct adjustment is when the engine continues to 4-stroke, but immediately 2-strokes when cutting. Allow to idle, and adjust L CW until the engine runs fairly well, but will allow the engine to 'follow the throttle'. Set idle speed screw so that the chain stops moving, but the engine continues to run. Hope this helps!

My chainsaw will not run unless it is on full choke and as soon as the choke is turned off it cutts out and will not start unless again the choke is on full

If you must choke it for it to run it is running lean. Continued operation in a lean condition will ruin it.
If you did nothing to the carburetor adjustments, are using a fresh (1.5 months or less) fuel mix with the same fuel/oil ratio it was last tuned with, (I recommend 50:1 = 1 gal premium fuel to 2.6 oz quality 2-cycle engine oil), are operating at the same elevation, and the air filter is clean, there is a reason your saw is acting up.
Clean the spark arrestor screen. Most often it is a fuel delivery problem. Check the fuel filter on the free end of a hose in fuel tank (manufacturer recommends an annual replacement). Check all fuel delivery lines especially at fittings and bends for cracks and holes. It can also be an air leak, inspect for a loose or defective carburetor manifold or loose carburetor. If those are good then the likely cause is internal parts of the carburetor are dirty or have failed. HTH

  • The hose in the tank with the filter on the free end connects directly to the carburetor input connection.
  • If the saw is equipped with a primer bulb, an output line from the carburetor connects to the suction side of the primer (once the bulb is collapsed it draws fuel from the tank through the carburetor to refill as it inflates).
  • The pressure side of the primer returns displaced fuel to the tank as it is depressed.
Take lots of notes and a few digital photographs to help with reassembly. HTH

A local saw shop Husky or Stihl (not Jerry's lawn mower) will usually repair this for $20-40. It might be worth a call or 2. If repaired and tuned ask what fuel/oil mixture they used and affix a label near the fuel filler cap.

Hi,
If it is only running high at full choke - then it is not getting enough fuel.
You've cleaned out the whole thing - so it's not air that's the problem. It's running - so it's not a spark problem - it's a fuel problem.

If you have a fuel filter - change it out or clean it properly. If the fuel line is clear, then you need to adjust the running setting of the carb - there are usually 2 setting knobs -one for idle - one for running / mix.
You need it running richer till you get it going - then trim it back to stop it smoking and get a good rev.
