Question about Compaq Evo N620c Notebook

1 Answer

Laptop issues I have a compaq evo N620c. I took it in to get it looked at, at one of the computer outlets here in my hometown of course. The guy couldn't get too far in it. Apparently, the fan on the motherboard is turning on but the motherboard itself isn't turning on, or so I was told. Any ideas on what might be wrong with it?

Nope, not a single one. That there is all I know, according to what the guy at the outlet told me anyway.

There are absolutely no beeps sounding when I turn it on.

Apologies for not replying to this. Without internet for a bit. I don't know what they did. Since the actual computer won't turn on ((Only the fan is turning on)) They couldn't do much other than tell me the fan was running and nothing else.

No monitor n620c loptop

To switch between monitor modes (internal/external) you have to press the key combination Fn+F4 (or F8) or the F key with a dual monitor icon printed on it. This happens when you use the laptop with an external monitor or projector, and you forget to return to the internal monitor mode.

Compaq n620c evo laptop

Check your floppy drive and see if there's a disk in it and remove it. If there is no diskette in the floppy drive and you are still getting the error. You can go into the Bios and turn off the "boot from floppy drive", that way it will not look for the floppy drive when booting up. Hope this helps.

Cannot locate ram on compaq EVO N620c

The RAM is located under a panel on the LHS of the touchpad.
You need a thin blade/knife to slip under this panel to lift it up and out. It is clipped in with plastic catches on the panel.
