Jthe water from the defrost cycle doesn't drain into the pan underneath. It freezes up and runs into the bottm of freezer until it must be defrosted on the bottom only.

The defrost drain which is behind the evaporator wall becomes frozen over or blocked by debris. You must remove the back wall to get at the drain and thaw it or snake it with wire to free the clog. After its clear, wrap some copper wire around the defrost heater and drop a length of it into the drain hole. This will prevent it from freezing over again.

I have a Whirlpool refrigerator. Model # ET1CHMXKBO3 and it leaks water into the bottom of the refrigerator. Water also freezes on the bottom of the freezer compartment. I checked for a clogged hole o

When your refrigerator defrost the water runs into a drain pan in the bottom/underneath the refrigerator, You will need to first unplug and remove contents from freezer and proceed to remove the air tower in the center of the back panel, underneath the evap. coil in the center is a hole that leads to the drain and it is iced over and the water is not able to flow. What i do is get a hair dryer (be careful not to melt the plastic) and defrost/melt the ice. You will need a towel to start and once you think you have the ice removed get some hot water and pour in the trough to make sure it flow's to the drain pan. When the flow is good put the part's back and make sure the refrigerator is level from side to side and slightly tilted towards the back (front to rear)!

It goes through the defrost tube to underneath unit. Poor very hot water in that hole and watch underneath unit where it comes out. If nothing is coming out, then it is still blocked.

Refrigerator ge profile model TFH27PR water leaking onto floor

Hi this problem could arise due to various reasons so lets find out what could it be the cause.

1)In the back of your freezer compartment is the drain hole. It's very common in GE for the drain to freeze up. With the drain hole plugged up, your freezer will continue to defrost the evaporator, but not the water in the drain hole. So the water builds and freezes, builds and freezes until it eventually overflows into the air diffuser for the fridge causing the leaky fridge problem."Heat Probe" that can be installed. This will prevent water from freezing up in the drain hole allowing it to drain as designed

2)Inspect the door seals and the sides of the refrigerator around the doors. If you see any beads of water or moisture, then the door seals may be failing to create an air tight seal which causes the cold air from the refrigerator to escape and form condensation around the doors. Sometimes you can solve this problem by applying a light film of gasket lubricant to the existing seals or just cleaning them of any debris with a warm soapy rag. If they still don't seal well after you apply lubricant, or clean them, you may need to replace the entire seal assembly.

3) If the water is coming from the freezer but you think that the defrost drain pipe is clear, then it may be coming from the ice maker. Check the ice maker for cracks in the unit's body or a misalignment of the water supply line. Make sure that the water supply spout in the freezer lines up with the ice maker's water supply cup.

4)Check the ice maker copper water supply line, your ice maker water filter, and the plastic ice maker water supply tube for any cracks, splits or connection leaks. If you find any leaks, remove the leaking part and obtain a replacement at the hardware store.

5)Your leaking refrigerator may just have a cracked or damaged drain pan. Your fridge regularly drains water into this pan to prevent water pooling in the fridge itself. Evaporation takes care of the rest. Look underneath your fridge where the drain pan sits and pull it out for inspection. If it has a crack or is otherwise damaged, contact the appropriate retailer about getting a replacement as soon as possible.

6)If your leaking refrigerator is draining inside as opposed to onto your floor, you're probably dealing with a clogged defrost drain. Your fridge is constantly producing condensation inside the freezer, and that condensation drips down the defrost drain into a drain pan underneath the unit. This defrost drain can become clogged with debris or, more often, it freezes shut. Look in your refrigerator manual to locate your defrost drain, and take the appropriate steps to unclog it (inundating your drain with warm water will often do the trick).

Note:Switch you Refrigerators for more than 8 hours and let the frost melt fully use hair dryer and now switch on and check you are getting leak.

post a comment for further assistance.

Thank you for using fixya have a nice day:-)

DEFROSTED WATER DOES NOT DRAIN TO PAN

Remove the food and the ice maker from the freezer ( if equiped ) and the bottom panel . Remove the rear freezer panel . Using a hair dryer , start in the middle , below the coils , defrosting , until you see the drain hole . Use hot water to help defrost the hole . Once water starts going thru the hole , use a small hose inserted into the hole , and blow thru , to remove any unseen debris in the drain line . Use an ALUMINUM or COPPER ( ground wire is good ) solid wire , 14-16 guage , with the insulation completely off , and insert one end into the drain hole as far as possible without any force . Wrap the other end about 1 1/2 to 2 turns , around the black rod (defrost heater) , above the hole . When refrig goes into defrost , the heat will transfer from the heater , to the wire , keeping the hole from freezing up again .

PTC22MFM - need to unclog defrost drain?

Normally, this is a job for an appliance service company. However, turn off the refrigerator and remove the rear freezer panel. Once removed you should see a drain hole. Apparently, water does not drain properly. Use an extended coat hanger, etc. to place down into the drain hole with "up and down motions". Periodically, pour a small amount of water into the drain hole until it appears to be unclogged. Then follow up with some hot water and liquid bleach (perhaps a cup full). This should kill any algae, etc. and remove any other foreign objects from the drain line. If you pour too much liquid into the drain hole you may get an overflow at the bottom of the refrigerator (there is a small drain pan underneath the appliance that catches the water during the defrost cycle. Yet, the water collected in the drain pan, during the defrost cycle, typically evaporates and you should never have to regularly empty the drain pan. Good luck!

Water in box waqter keeps accumulating on shelves iveg bins andunder bins

When the freezer goes through the defrost cycle, the water collects in the defrost drain pan and drains into a pan underneath the unit where it evaporates over time. If the defrost drain pan is clogged, the water will fill the pan where it will freeze. Once the pan is full of ice, the water from the defrost cycle will run over the pan and down into the fresh food section. This will require that the drain pan be clean of the ice and the drain tube cleared of ice and debris.
Hope this helps.

Model #MSB2154GRW water leaking from out of the front of the unit apparently when defrost cycle runs. Suspect blocked or defective evaporator unit. How do I access this to examine the problem?

there is a condensate pan underneath the fridge to catch coil defrost runoff and condensation. it usually gets evaporated from the heat of the high-pressure line off of the compressor. the pan might be full or the tube came out of the pan.

Frozen or Plugged Defrost Drain

On Side By Side Refrigerator

The defrost drain pan is located at the bottom of the freezer compartment behind the back wall of the freezer. On some models the pan is accessible without removing the back panel and others are not.

Once you get to the defrost drain pan use a hair dryer to melt the ice from the pan.

Once the ice is removed use a turkey baster like this one: Turkey Baster http://www.repairclinic.com/SSPartDetail.aspx?PartID=428708&PPStack=1

To squirt hot water into the drain hole to clear the drain.

When the drain is clear you should hear or see the water you are squirting into the hole enter the pan under or behind the refrigerator.
