### How to convert percent to fraction

1% = 1/100

So in order to convert percent to fraction, divide the percent by 100% and reduce the fraction.

For example 56% is equal to 56/100 with gcd=4 is equal to 14/25:

56% = 56/100 = 14/25

- Divide the percent by 100 to get decimal number.
- Count the number of digits (d) to the right of the decimal point of the decimal number.Example: 2.56 has 2 digits to the right of the decimal point, so d=2.
- Calculate the factor (f) for making the decimal number an integer:
*f*= 10*to power d*

Example:

*f*= 10 power 2 = 100

- Multiply and divide the decimal number x by the factor f:
*x***f*/*f*=*y*/*f*

Example:

2.56 * 100 / 100 = 256 / 100

- Find the greatest common divisor (gcd) of the fraction.
Example:

gcd(256,100) = 4

- Reduce the fraction by dividing the numerator and denominator by the gcd value:

Maybe that does not answer your question but really converting a decimal to a percent value or a percentage into a decimal is a rather trivail matter. Just move the decimal mark (if there is none put one at the end of the number) two places to the left to get the decimal equivalent or two places to the right to get the percent equivalent of a decimal number.

Sad as it may be, this calculator does not have a % button/key/menu. So do not look for it. However you can still convert your decimal numbers to percent values.

1 %= 1 per cent (100) = 1/100=0.01

"percent" means "per hundred." Thus, to convert from a percent to decimal, divide by 100. For example, 25% becomes 0.25 .

One can express percentages as fractions. Say you have 60% and you want to change this into a fraction. you can also express this as 60/100 because all percentages are are parts of 100. So to change a fraction into a percent you would just convert the fraction into a decimal by dividing (3/4 = .75). Then to get the percentage you just multiply the decimal by 100 to get the percent. Sorry to say, soweeto54, but that question you've posted does not make much sense. It can be interpreted in three different ways, neither of which can be gleamed with much confidence. Yet I will still offer you three valid answers for your TI-83,

"The percent of 140 from 762.9 =". The troublesome part is the "from". Percents questions should be written in terms of "is" and "of".

TWO INTERPRETATIONS.

RESPONSE 1. The question could be read as "what percent of 762.9 is 140?". To do this on your calculator you simply do 140 divided by 762.9. From there, you simply move the decimal point two digits to the right to convert it into an equivalent percentage. So, that should be [1][4][0] [/] [7][6][2][.][9] [=] on your TI83. This was an example of a "percent of" question.

RESPONSE 2. The question could be read as "what percent of 140 is 762.9?" To have your TI83 calculate this you simply do 762.9 divided by 140. Of course, you will then need to move the decimal over two spots to the right in order to turn it into an equivalent percentage. Yes, it probably is strange to think of a number being more than 100 percent of another but it is a valid statement which occurs in the real world every single day. Nonetheless, for your TI83 you just press [7][6][2][.][9] [/] [1][4][0] [=]. This was another example of a "percent of" question. In fact, this is just the decimal reciprocal of the previous answer.

To convert from decimal ratio to percent value, move the decimal mark two places to the right.

what ever the decimal is all you have to do is multiply by 100 and you have your percent or you can just move the decimal to the right two places either way is the same.
