Samsung model HLP4663WX/XAA with loud buzzing noise, need to know which part to replace.

See attached photo: you have a bad color wheel----it turns at about 12,000 rpm and bearings in the tiny motor go bad.

High pitched or fan like sound is classic symptom.

The wheel is available on the internet and You Tube has video instructions by model number for replacing it---Google the model number for the part number for your set to locate the part and instructions.

This for most people is a do it yourself job---takes like 45 minutes start to finish.

If color wheel slows too much set will shut down as its speed is monitored and the wheel can even shatter causing shutdown of the set.

Hello I have a dlp samsung hlp4663wx/xaa. Last week the picture went black the sound is good . I replaced the lamp and the problem continues . I also replace the color wheel a year ago. know everything is...

It is the DMD board especially if the lamp stays lit. If the lamp is not lit... Be sure you have the lamp in properly...that is plugged in good and the door has the door switch engaged. Be sure door switch is still good and did not get damaged when replacing the lamp. DMD board can be found at encompassparts 1-800-638-3328 for 318.51 plus 150.00 for the core but right now is on FACTORY BACKORDER Part number

HLP4663wx/xaa Fan or Color wheel making noise? I first noticed it within the last week making noise when turning the set off. Now it's continuous. Could hear it slowing down on power off, constant...

A fan like noise is 98% of the time the color wheel.

Wheel turns at over 12,000 rpm and common failure is "fan like sound or even grinding sound".

When these sets first came out if the high pitched sound started women who have better hearing in that range usually hear it first.

If wheel really fails it will shatter and set will not come on----a grinding sound may be noticed just before total failure.

Color wheel problem on my HLP4663WX/XAA

The color wheel is not working, and failed in green. The best case is a cable is loose, color wheels typically have a two pin power connector and a ribbon cable for phase locking. If it is not these connections, you will not be able to fix it yourself.

Sounds like the color wheel. Check samsungparts.com for a replacement. Check the video on youtube of a guy fixing his color wheel to see if its something you want to tackle. I changed mine... a drag, but not too awful. Ran about $100.

RE:COLOR WHEEL

Did you call the manufacture directly? Did you find out who their authorized service is in your area to see if they would service the set for you?

With many of these manufactures, they may not sell you the parts unless they service the set.

From experience, I found that when most electronics are more than about 4 to 5 years old, there is no longer any manufacture support. The technology and industry is changing too fast, and it is not feasable for them to continue supporting old models.

If the color wheel you replaced was the BP96-00674A, it would have come with the proper cca adjustments for that particular wheel. You must enter the service menu and reset the cca's for proper color.
