after changing the batteries you should get lights on the keyboard, like numlock and capslock, some wireless keyboards might not have any lights. if yours doesn't well no problem.
What you need to do is to Pair the wireless keyboard and mouse with the receiver that you have connected to the computer. Possibly try another usb port or restart the computer if notings happening.
You need to press on the sync, pair or connect button on the receiver and then within a short amount of time you need to press the reset, sync or pair button on the bottom of the keyboard, in some cases might be on the top. most likely on the bottom.
Depending on the model, you might need to after that press the sync button of the receiver again and then on the mouse or just the mouse.

Logitech has long warranties, around 5 years or more on most of their products, so if this one appears faulty and another wireless set works fine, then you can probably get it replaced. But more on that once I know what model keyboard it is
