Question about Washing Machines

2 Answers

Good Afternoon Guru, Re your post By sthomas556 on Oct 05, 2010 I have a Smart Drive Fisher & Paykel 7.5 washing Machine and my darks come out of the wash with hard to remove fluff I have a Fisher & Paykel Smartdrive 601 - Model No. GW601-U S/N MAL58247. I followed your instructions and got so far as trying to remove the tub. It won't come out, gets stuck on the motor pulley and rod. It moves a little bit and then won't budge pass the cog. Is there any tricks her, maybe a special tool or do I have to undo some bolts from the bottom (sort of reluctant to do that), a friend at work mentioned it was magnetic? I have a broken finger and it was an effort for me just to try and remove the tub lol. My problem is the same it leaves lint and powder on my dark clothes and guy cleaned it for me over 5 years ago (but alas I didn't watch what he did) Any help ideas would be most appreciated. From trying to be a handy woman - with a broken finger lol

Hey thanks for that, I still have it dismantled so is there a trick to my original request, getting the tub out?

I have a top loader and there is no flint removal in this machine, does that still apply to your advice above, just noticed you mentioned front loader.

    Thank you

Possible a lint filter problem, but first I would take off the pump and clean it out along with the drain hoses and see if that does not fix things.
First check your washer for a lint catcher.
Mine is in the center on the agitator, mine takes one twist to remove.
wipe out washer after washing towels and rags etc.. to remove excess lint.

I don't think we talked before . but before disamble ( I would use a cleaner like washermajic. this works well in front loaders. . cleaners reduce the deposits and clean right to the metal . they do not harm the inter or ss metal. safe for seals . also white deposits are either hard water or soap . . if your using a H E detergent . you should not get the build up ./ some reg detg.just do not work well in front loaders.. also ck the drain hose it may be in the stand pipe so far its end is in the elbow . this will cause siphon back to the tub .. hope some of this helps mm

My fisher & paykel 7.5 kg excellence smart drive doesn't spin

Check the out of balance switch (under the larger Grey board)
for corrosion on the terminals and replace if faulty.

FISHER & Paykel 6.5 Smart Drive - No display lights

You need to get hold of a multi-meterand check the resistance of the pump, It should be 33ohms or close to it, the pump is part of the power circuit and the machine will appear dead if it has blown or is unplugged, If the machine was running without the earth wire to the pump connected and the pump had a fault/blockage there is a very good chance that it has blown the motor controller module. It requires the earth to provide a fault path to earth.

Unplug the machine have someone tilt the machine back and look under the machine for a little fan on a motor give it a turn to see if it spins it might just be sticky or it may need replacing.
