It is my understanding the xfinity remote is designed only to control comcast set top box and TVs. It also can control audio receivers. It is unlikely you can control a DVD player with it.
At best you could try and use the programming instructions on page 5 of the manual and see if it picks up your DVD player. Otherwise it might be better to use the existing remote controller you have and program the Comcast set top box to it. You need to find the codes from the programming instructions of the original remote control and you will also need to know the model number of your comcast box.

Hi, make sure you Comcast remote is in the "DVD" mode before attempting to work the DVD features. If it is still not working. You need to reprogram your Comcast remote to a different Magnavox DVD code because the code it is currently set for not fully compatible. If you would like to purchase a new Magnavox DVD player remote you can also search on Replacement Remotes for your DVD player's model number located on the back of the unit. If they have it, it will show for purchase.
You may need to check the age of the remote. The codes in a universal remote generally only control those devices released 6 months or more before the remote was programmed. If your RCA DVD player is newer than your remote, you may need a new remote.
