Give the list a name then press ENTER. You have to tell the calculator which list you want to edit.

When I push stat abd then edit, all that comes up is a list with "name" at the bottom of the screen. How do I get off that ?

Each "list" has to have a name. Usually, the lists are named L1, L2, L3, L4, L5, L6 ect. but you can give them text names as well.
To name the list, go to Stat--> Edit --> Input a name--> Enter To input a name, either do 2nd --> L1,L2,L3 ect.. or use Alpha --> Name

How do you get the table ([2ND GRAPH]) from the [STAT] [EDIT] [L1] [L2] list to appear with [Y1] in the second the column? The information appears in the scatter plot, but the information in the table does...

Instead of hitting the [table] button. You should hit the [stat] or [stats] button as I forget which it is. Then hit [enter] which will bring you to a stats list editor of some kind. You will want to enter the data for your x-axis in L1 and the data for your y-axis in L2. Once you have completed your lists, hit the [stat] button again and then click [right] or the right arrow in order to move to the section of calc. from number 4 down it will help create a graph of that type of function. lets say you think it is linear, so you hit [enter] on number 4 and then you will be at the home screen with LinReg already written. You just have to complete the statement and it will do it for you. hit the [2nd] [1] and then the comma button, then [2nd] [2] and [enter]. that will do it for you.

Invalid dimension

Most of the time when you get the "invalid dimenstion" error, either list 1 or list 2 is longer than the other. Check your data and make sure you there are not more numbers in one list than in the other.

Another posssibility is that when you tried to clear list one, you may have deleted list one. If this is the case, you can get the column labeled list one back by pressing stat, then select set up editor form that menu which will take you back to the home screen. Press enter and the word done will appear. Now when you go back to stat edit, list one will be there.

Invalid dimension error on my TI-83 plus?

This is a pretty vague problem but not much of a problem. Your actualy plotting device of your stat plot is under your "y=". But before you do that you need to hit the stat button right next to the blue apps button. Then hit edit. These are your stat data. If you are trying to add data in you should notice what list they are under. (top of the screen L1, L2, ect.) You should also make sure that the number of data adds up for your two list. Now that you have done that you can go to "2nd" then hit "y=". If you don't want to graph your stat plots just make sure they all sat plot... off by hitting enter on the one that says that it is on. Now if you want one on hit enter and make sure your lists from your data match up with your stat plot. You can hit enter and see what one you need. they are above the 1, 2, 3, etc key. Hope this works. If all else fails you can clear your calculator by pressing "2nd", "+", "7", "1", "2". This will turn off all your stat plots if you have trouble understandsing this. b

Here's what you do in a TI-83 or TI-84:

Go to STAT > 1: Edit > UP ARROW > 2ND > INS > *List Name* > ENTER

Hope that helps!
