Hi,
Yes, but there are many different types of "freon" that it could possibly use...

Here isa tip that I wrote about how to add refrigerant to a air conditioner or coolingsystem

Subzer 690 side byside fridge .after changing new evaporator it started moister in the fridge like fogy glass shelves . What you think is wrong?thanks

Evaporator should be taking the moisture out of the refrigerator. Examples are defrost drain blockage, door seals damaged or improper refrigerant charge. Moisture in sealed system can also affect evaporators removal of moisture and cooling. If you have questions please let me know, Thanks John Tripp Appliance 911

Sub zero 690 side by side ,I have clean the condenser but vacume condenser keep on flashing .Turn the fridge off from the circut then on but same words are flasing after 12 hrs or so.Fridge temprature is...

MOST LIKELY FRIDGE SECTION IS LOW ON FREON! "VACUUM CONDENSER" WILL COME ON IF COMPRESSOR RUNS MORE THAN IT SHOULD BE. COMMON THING IS LEAKING EVAPORATOR COILS IN FRESH FOOD SECTION. CHECK MY VIDEO, I HOPE IT HELPS.

I have a subzero 690...the freezer side is only cooling down to 50 degrees but refridgerator is working fine....control panel says to vacuum condensor. I vacuumed and also used compressed air. This made...

i would call a tech in for this, sub zeros are not like regular machines, the freezer and fridge have their own components,it's like two machines in one, whenever i've seen the vac condenser it's ussually a freon leak in the fridge evap coil so i would have to think you could have a freon leak in the freezer section, usually the bottom copper loop rots out, your talking about a machine that costs almost 10,000 dollars or more,if it is a leak i think you're covered for the first 12 years on the sealed system, you can do a few checks, look at the door gasket, does it have any rips or does it look damaged in any way, also i've seen the light switch stick and the lights stay on when the door is closed and heats up the freezer, open the freezer door and push the door switches in and out and see if the lights go out,but other than that i would call a tech in to repair your sub zero,i know if you do have a leak in the system it's could be close to a grand or more to repair and you need all the tools to do the repair.

Sub zero 690 vacuum condensor light flashing, clean vac. condensor, light still flash after 2 days.

I assume from your post you have vacuumed the condensor at the top of the unit? Did you do this regularly over the life of the unit? You have shut the unit off for at least 5 minutes (allowing it to reset) and then turned it back on and the vac condensor light still flashes? I had this same thing happen - unfortunately for me I have had to replace the condensor twice in the 12 years I have owned the unit. Luckily first time was covered by warrantly (parts and labor). Second time was in the 11th year and the parts were covered, and the labor was covered 50% after I complained......It ended up being a leak in the sealed system (condensor). If it keeps happening you may want to call for service - could be that it just needs freon, but it could be the condensor)

Building up ice in refrig side. also service light is flashing. what can I do to fix prob?

if the ice is only between 5 and 10 inches log. your problem is the evaporator. you have a leak freon. better call a tech for repair.check the warrantty. subz. have the best warrantty on the market. 12 years in seal system parts. (COMPRESSOR. EVAPORATOR HEATER EXCHANGER. FILTER DRIER. PARTS HOLD FREON.) if the ice is big like cover the whole back wall. you have a thermostat problem. or thermister. is the same. depends on the serial num. is really hard to raplace the tsat. thermisters really easy. and cheap

Compressor area above refrigerator is getting very hot

Hi,

Check Thermostat.
Proper Cleaning/Defrosting of fridge and freezer.
Proper Placing and Distance from wall.
If your hand bear the body temperature of that specific area then its normal.
Contact technician to verify Freon pressure.

Best of Luck,

The temperature won't go down below 48 degrees

Maybe be defrost problem. If there is ice build up in back of freezer then its not defrosting and blocking air flow. also made sure fan is working on inside and outside coils. May need to call in a tech if any of the 3 problems are present. can also be freon, compressor or control problem.
