Question about Washing Machines
I have an old Maytag SE 1000 stackable washer-dryer unit. Last week it over-filled and flooded my house (unit in a second floor laundry room- got ugly) I replaced the water valve-solenoid unit, but it still over fills. I would guess that it would be the either the water-level-sensor, or the water-level-switch. I think the sensor id this ratty-looking rubber tube coming off the bottom of the tank, as it is coupled to a wire. The wire hooks into a gizmo, that I believe is the switch. Before I blow another $100, is there any way to trouble shoot this?
If I had thought it through better the first time, I could have eliminated the valve-solenoid, as I think if it were buggered up, it would fill even when the machine is off, or it the valve wouldn't open what so ever, and the machine wouldn't fill at all.
If overfills only when turned on suspect waterlevel control or small hose from control to base of tub ..look for holes in tubing or crud plugging hose usually on end at tub base
